I am very much bothered. I like many others have invested small fortunes into Boro through thick and thin. Boro has been a huge part of my life and remains so. However, I have to admit my faith in how the club is run by ‘the emperor‘ with his shiny new clothes, is lost. I no longer have faith in him to make good footballing decisions.
People say he is great at the financial side of things because he puts a reported £1M a month In the kitty to keep us afloat. Whilst being extremely glad he does, I think the fact he has to shows he has not managed the finances well. £15M for Britt, huge salaries reported for the likes of Randolph, Britt, Downing, £6.75M for Fletcher. £8M for Saville. Great with finances.
I probably care too much to be honest. I get far too upset about games of football. I get far too upset about things that happen off the pitch. I get far too frustrated about blinkered officials at the club who watch the same product but do nothing to resolve the problems, mores the point, they keep on adding to them. We appear to be a football club in denial, players with no fight and little value, a head coach that has the gift of the gab, but no substance behind it, a chairman who seemingly can’t see the woods for the trees. Crikey we even have some fans who refuse to believe their eyes and add to the problem by just accepting it is what it is and wont hear a bad word said because to do so is a sin. The real sin is is when people ignore reality and praise mediocrity and accept failure.
The academy gets praise, but in reality how many top quality players has it really produced that feed our first team? The club seems a mess from top to bottom and are sleepwalking to relegation again. I see no hope for automatic bounce back either. If we tamely carry on as if nothing happens we will be looking at crowds of 12-14k next season and dwindling further if we are not competing at the top end. I am extremely disgruntled and angry as to what has been allowed and achieved within 5 years of promotion to the Premier League. Calling it shambolic is papering over the cracks.
