Is ‘Enjoy the Silence’ the best Depeche Mode song?

See you
Shake the disease
Get the balance right
Behind the wheel
A question of time

Id also rate enjoy the silence but id say my fave would be get the balance right.

Later tracks like suffer well also good.

Tbf a Broken Frame was quite poppy…think Clarke had a bit of a hand in that too. Clarke seems to have been a big control freak in the early 80s hence his leaving Depeche and Yazoo…seems less so now and has done some good collaborations with Gore in the relatively recent past.

A Broken Frame was written entirely by MLG. There may have been some Clarke influences but on the whole it's way 'darker' than Speak & Spell.

It's a F***ing awesome song, one of my favourite songs. The video of the performance in Berlin is unbelievable. I haven't seen them live but really want to before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Oh, and I'm glad to see my ignore list is still very much correct.

You seem to be as much of a fan as me…maybe more….saw them in Paris and Munich and most tours since Music for the Masses. Do you think Mart and Dave will do another album or tour?

When we are at home
and when we are away
I just cant get enough
I just cant get enough

We score a goal
and the crowd go wild
and I just cant seem to get enough of you!

Do you know, I thought MM would be the last album and tour but now I'm not so sure. That album gave them a new lease of life I think particularly as MLG did some writing with Richard Butler. It definitely reinvigorated him. They both look after their minds and bodies these days so why not? Like you, I love to see them live overseas. The last tour me and the Mrs went to see them outdoors in Rome and Bologna then indoors in Prague. They're a couple of years older than me so while they're still touring I'll still be following them 😍

As Boro fur I thought Fletch dying might be the end, but now I reckon they’ll keep the DM ‘brand’ together forever in his memory. I did the Twickenham show last time and West Ham one the time before, didn’t particularly like either, but did the arena one in Birmingham and that’s reinvigorated it. I’ll be there until they stop, I’ve indoctrinated at least two and ex long term partners in the ways of Depeche
