After the initial flurry of transfers the week before last, things have been a bit slower these last seven days. That is, at least at surface level.
Having looked under the covers of the transfer masterplan, I have something of of an insight into where things are headed right now.
I can say with a good degree of certainty that Chuba will be staying at the club nex season provided that no club meets our asking price and he is happy to stay. Matt Clarke's ongoing injury means he won't start games until he's fit again. He's desperate to play again but there's little chance of that until he can train regularly.
The new lads have all bedded in quite well and the word is Silvera has nailed down his spot on the left-hand side, although it looks like he will start either on the right or most likely in the middle. And if you are a fan of Marcus Forss, there's some good news for you there: Carrick will start him in a central striking position against Millwall if we don't sign any other players in the meantime who are subsequently given the nod. But there's more: we're looking at another striker in addition, already a household name of the future, potentially, and whose biggest asset is goals. He doesn't just score headers; he'll get... footers, as well.
The biggest question - perhaps the only one I haven't answered - is 'where is Ryan Giles in all of this'? That's not for me to say right now, but the chances are that he will be back in a red shirt in time for August. It's just sorting out the fine details at this point, such as whether a fee can be agreed and his wages.
