Ipswich Town - the real deal?

Brandon Williams is looking a great signing for them too but are Sam Morsy and Masimo Luongo really one of the top midfield parings of the Championship? Fascinating.
This is the bit that's staggering for me, although Wigan fans really rated Morsy. Not sure what happened here, sounds like some behind the scenes issues alongside him just looking a bit crap most games. He's on a good wage it looks like too.

Luongo though. Shades of Ricardinho that one. Deemed not good enough to make a single appearance in midfield for us (despite us looking pretty short in that position) now starting week in week out for a side massively outperforming us. Hell of a turnaround that, fair play. Although unlikely he'll be winning a world cup.

Fantastic start to the season from both Leicester and surprisingly Ipswich. To already have a ten point gap to third after 11 games takes some doing. No wonder their odds for promotion have fallen so much. Interesting to see if they can keep it up. Certainly the surprise of the season, without any players you would consider standouts.

I'm not sure there was ever a doubt about luongo being a decent player, circumstances just went against him here. He was brought in as cover when Wilder was playing three in midfield then within 11 games Wilder was gone and we soon after reverted to two in the middle with a back four, along with Hackney's emergence. He was never getting a look in at that point and only on a 4 month deal or something.

They look good but their squad is small, so lets what happens when injuries and suspensions start to kick in. They have been simmering in League One for a few years, slowly rebuilding.

Leicester look far and away the best equipped for the league - I did think there would be more of their established players leaving the club as their relegation looked like the end of an era, but fair play to keeping key players. I think they'll be too strong for any other side to catch.

QPR - I don't know what it is but I am enjoying watching them get beat while Ainsworth gyrates like an 80s lothario on the touchline.
Lol funnily enough I want them to win for the exact same reason 😁

Find the QPR collapse interesting.
They've played well against us for a while.
Sure they lost Manager Beale to Rangers but still?

Seemed to have a good thing going with William, Johannsen and others (?).

What else has kicked them in the nuts??

I always quite liked Morsy at Boro, yes he played a quite limited role, but he played it well. Always seemed to miss something in midfield when he didn't play. Coach at Ipswich clearly playing to his strengths but with a defined role in a midfield I think we're seeing what he's capable of.

Is Brandon Williams THE Brandon Williams (as in played a few games for Utd a couple of seasons back?) Always though he looked a really good prospect, particularly going forward. Probably capable of playing a level above to be honest.

Still no sign of the Tractor Boys choking then...

Really wish we weren't facing them with such a depleted squad. With a full first team I'd fancy us, but as it is we'll need a fair wind against these

They don’t have the squad depth to last a full season as top two candidates but they do have a great chance of the playoffs. The three teams that came down will fight it out for the top two places, I’ve no doubt at all about that - their squad strength is far superior to everyone else in this league.

How's everyone felling now then? I was impressed with them - but not that impressed - when they came to the Riverside to comfortably best our injury-ravaged team. Shame we won't get to play them with a full strength eleven, but fair play to them, they haven't wilted like many expected

I must admit I’m surprised they’ve lasted the pace. Kieffer Moore was an inspired signing in January. I would hope if they go up they stick with this core, like Luton have, not many obvious stars but show the value of teamwork and coaching. Remind me a bit of us last season, seem to have been relatively injury free. I reckon they need to make it this season and I hope they do, at the expense of Leeds or Leicester (who could well implode if they don’t make it this season).

I’m very surprised they have lasted, I’m still never impressed when I see them (I thought the Blackburn match was dreadful for a team going top with a lot of points at this stage).

If they do make it I fear they will be back down by Christmas.
