Ipswich Town - the real deal?

Leicester, I said on here they would smash this league - an easy prediction - but safe to say no one saw this one coming. Can't name a single one of their players. You keep expecting the bubble to burst but they're scoring goals for fun and there's no sign of them cracking so far. Reminds me of Bournemouth a few seasons back. If you score, you can always hurt teams, and I'm glad it looks like we might be regaining the habit. Can someone reel them in? Leeds are starting to put some form together, and we're one of a clutch of teams who could go on a sustained run. You'd think a couple of injuries could derail them, but local 'tight-knit' feelgood factor might sustain them. Certainly have to be classed as genuine contenders at the moment. Odds-on for promotion as it stands (we're 7-1).

God to see them back anyway, even though they always seemed to beat us down the years. Was in the county of Suffolk this weekend as it goes - swimming in the North Sea!

There is always a team promoted who does well in their first season, it really shouldn’t be a surprise given their Head Coach and how they performed as a unit last season. I doubt they will stay the course in the top 2 but if they have some spare funds to strengthen in January, then who knows.

Play offs must be a distinct possibility based upon the number if points they already have, it's a long season but they are well placed.
All credit to them

The bookies had them as one of the favourites before a ball was kicked.

We're seeing why right now.

Would personally be happy if they kept it up, unless we benefit from them dropping off.

I remember them being promoted to the Premier League and finishing 5th in their first season. Alun Armstrong was playing for them then I think.

There’s no reason they can’t keep winning games. Good luck to them

The most likely outcome is that they won't be able to sustain this position. I suspect it will be similar to the season Sheff Utd were promoted from league one.

I reckon if they keep their manager and get a bit of investment that they will be looking good for promotion next season.

They look very impressive.

They are a pressing team and the keeper IIs comfortable coming out. They like to feed Omarl Hutchinson on the right wing who is not only very quick he puts in wicked crosses.

They are full of goals. Also on the right they have attaking full back and ex Man U junior Brandon Williams. Compliments Hutchinson and they work well together.

But the key player they have is Conor Chaplin who sits off the front man and is the playmaker goal scorer. Key player in Barnsley making the play offs a few years ago he’s already scored 40 goals for Ipswich. Up front with Chaplin they have Broadhead ex Everton and Wigan who has also scored a goal every other game this season.

Clearly Morsy and Luongo have formed a good partnership too.

What they have is consistency. They didn’t change the team much from the one that Only lost 4 games in Division 1 last season. Yes they are the real deal.

They have a settled winning team, layers that compliment each other and know their role in the team, no bad apples or mercenaries. I felt they’d be top half. I’m yet to be convinced they’ll stay too two, but I always felt they’d be play off contenders

How and why Leeds let Leif Davis go is remarkable.

Whoever was in charge of letting him go needs questioning, because he is brilliant.

I saw something that the other day saying Leicester have had the best ever start to a championship season (since the rebrand I presume). Ipswich's start is the 3rd best ever. It's not a surprise to see them doing well but it is a surprise to be doing as well as they are.

The championship is a strange league. Everyone knows that every team is capable of putting a good run together and they are also capable of putting a terrible one together. Early in the season last year QPR were flying and they barely avoided relegation and Coventry and us were in the bottom three and almost got promoted. They have been scoring a lot though which is a good sign and they have the best xGA in the league so they are obviously defending well as well. I suspect they will hit a sticky patch at some point so will be interesting to see how they react to that.

It happens every now and then where a League 1 team gets promoted and they continue their good form and get another promotion. Southampton spring to mind.

It will be interesting to see what they do in January as new signings can often have a negative impact and disrupt the squad, especially if they come in on big wages/fees and the manager feels like he has to play them.

They look good but their squad is small, so lets what happens when injuries and suspensions start to kick in. They have been simmering in League One for a few years, slowly rebuilding.

Leicester look far and away the best equipped for the league - I did think there would be more of their established players leaving the club as their relegation looked like the end of an era, but fair play to keeping key players. I think they'll be too strong for any other side to catch.

QPR - I don't know what it is but I am enjoying watching them get beat while Ainsworth gyrates like an 80s lothario on the touchline.
