Interesting stat to give another angle on our poor start to the season

I would say the instinct element is the getting into the right position, which Latte Lath does loads with his pace and aggression.
I agree with Jedi. Every one of those players in our squad (including the defenders) has the ability to dink a ball over a keeper or hit the bottom corner from the edge of the box 9 out of 10 times outside of a match scenario. Otherwise they wouldn't be professional footballers. Its a fairly basic skill. Having the temperament and speed of thought to do it in a match scenario under pressure is what separates the top players and much harder to teach.

Look at the chances Silvera has missed this season. There's no way he doesn't have the ability to score them. My 6 year old son could have put 3 of them away. But he's lacked composure and lashed at them. It's hard to coach someone out of that

Compeaed to last season, for me there are two main reasons, our finishing hasn't been clinical enough, although I'm not sure the quality of chances created has been as good. We also are having nowhere near as much possesion, possibly a tweak in style, we are definitely trying to get the ball forward to wide areas much quicker. Defensively we are slightly worse, but we weren't much good last season, the increase in opposition possession I think is giving the opposition more opportunities thus we are conceding more. I've never thought Fry & Lenihan compliment each other, Fry has been v.poor this season, Lenihan has been at best average, both not good enough to get us in the top six unless we find a way of keeping more possession and protecting them.

All the problems you have described are true and are happening. I don't think its down to a change of style though, it is simply down to lesser quality players.

Tend to agree its a quality difference. Giles for example was very comfortable with the ball, probably the most complete left back in the division by a mile when he had the ball at his feet and crossing the ball. As far I know we offered £4m for him and he turned us down. The players we brought in may turn out just as good but it will take time.

Same with Akpom the players playing attacking midfield are not the same quality. £10.5m player sold and replaced with £1m/free players. The replacement players are very much developing.
