Interesting comment from Maddo - us and them

It will be interesting to see how Wilder gets on next, he demonstrated at Sheffield United and then with us that he has no plan B. Perhaps it’s common knowledge in coaching circles how to defeat Wilderball?

It was fantastic on Saturday to see the reaction of the players at the end of the game, Giles flew over to the away end as soon as the final whistle went and must have fist pumped about 6 times, the whole team, including those subbed, went into a huddle, it really felt like there was massive belief and togetherness. As someone else pointed out, I haven’t felt like that at a game since Karanka’s best days. I’ll be honest I was close to tears, haven’t felt that feeling of shared joy and togetherness between players and fans for a long time.

We all had a laugh at McClaren/Beswick but the importance of mental wellbeing in sport cannot be understated.

Getting hauled off at HT - in consecutive games? - when he was one of many playing poorly clearly screwed his head.

Wilders man management has certainly been brought into question since his dismissal. For all his self confessed progressive management/tactical genius, the basics of good player management was shocking / totally lacking.

Fry wasn't awful under Wilder at all. That's the narrative Wilder spun because Lenihan was his man and that's who he was pushing as his main centre half. Lenihan was responsible for the majority of our goals conceded during the first 6 (roughly) games. Fry wasn't at the top of his game but even by that standard he was still our best defender.

Believed his own hype basically and thought he was bigger than the club. No reason he can't or won't be successful again but needs to let go of the ego a bit.

Pretty sure at Oxford and Northampton he won't have rigidly insisted they were playing only one system and having a sulk when the club couldn't sign the players to play it.

He'll have got the best out what was available.

For some reason the impression you get is that he now thinks he doesn't have to do any of that and if you're "lucky enough" to hire him as manager you need to give him the very specific tools he needs to play his "system".

Needs to rebuild his reputation and go back to basics a bit, but that would require a bit of humility.

This was going back to last season too.

Sorry, but I disagree. Fry's form dipped alarmingly but I'm putting this down to system/Wilder and confidence draining from the team. Fry was one of the players to suffer the most with Wilders man management. He goes, Carrick comes in, he looks like a player again.

Lenihan was even worse, that is true, but the pair of them are starting to form a decent partnership in a settled back 4.

Lenihan looks a miles better player under Carrick. If Johnny H calls it a day, at the end of the season then Lenihan must be a shoe-in for the Armband. He’s also got a great knack for being in the right place at corners.

Good to see that Carrick has addressed that and brought it all back together.
The players have spoken about the positive spirit round the club, they certainly look happier than they did a month ago and that is showing in their play.

I thought Wilder talked about how they'd made changes to the infrastructure at Rockcliffe with the purpose of bringing the academy and the first team players together?
