Interesting comment from Maddo - us and them

Wilders man management is absolutely horrific.
Lumley & Daniels although not good enough anyway were continously having to hear 'we'll have to improve that position in the summer'
Dijksteel told he was at fault regularly.
Fry dropped and hauled off at half time twice to dampen his spirits
Flo Balogun had a consecutive run of games where he scored 3 times then he never started again
Uche didn't even get to come back to training
Chuba was brought back to prove a point over transfers
Lea Siliki bombed out given a first half then bang back out again, I mean what's the point? If he's not in your plans don't give him hope then give him 45 minutes
Sporar dropped when he was on form
Jones 'can do better'

Hideous and good riddance
His treatment of Lumley and Uche was what started to sour me on Wilder. Lumley was capable of making bad mistakes, but good management is finding ways to protect the weaknesses of players and the way Wilder played left Lumley exposed again and again and again. As did the way he expected Fry to play and the way he had the midfield bombing forward every single game when they didn't have the pace to get back.

And Uche wasn't set up for Wilder's style of play, but his power and ability in the air was great for a different option against sides that we couldn't break down. He really didn't deserve to be excluded from the squad and forced out of the door.

The way he played people in roles they weren't suited to and then publicly blamed them for bad results when they inevitably struggled to perform in that role, really put me off him. If he'd have been successful, I wouldn't have minded, but if you act like he did then the minute things go downhill, you're on borrowed time.

Wilder inherited a decent team & turned us into, IMHO, one of the worst teams in the championship, others may disagree & thats fine all about opinions
I agree. A few weeks ago I stated that this team was now the worst I'd seen since the dark days of 1983/84. I take that back, we're a bloody good team looking at what I've seen recently, and that change is down to the management. Wilder was on his way to being another Strachan 😣

Went to Blackpool Tuesday really looking forward to the game, came home buzzing. Lost count of the games under Wilder where it was a chore/hard watch and the inevitable defeat spoiled your evening.

Haven't had this feeling about the whole club since Karankas playoff/promotion seasons.

I said something similar Gaz, you wernt wrong, as I did you seen it as it was

The transformation has been nothing short of amazing, with each result it makes Wilders management here look worse by the week

Managers rarely behave in exactly the same way from job to job. A manager can easily do well in a job, or a series of jobs, and then start to believe all the hype around themselves (especially with how quickly managerial stock falls and rises - it’s not long since half this board wanted Danny Cowley as our manager). There’s no bigger example of this than Mourinho who managed to keep an outstanding run going for ten years before regressing to the mediocrity he has now.

I think Wilder simply got ahead of himself. I’m very interested to know how he does in his next job because to succeed there’ll have to be some significant learnings on his part. A rookie is currently putting him in the shade here, with identical tools.

I still think Wilder completely destroyed what Sporar was starting to bring to the team. Over Christmas, he was flying, scoring, linking well, had that connection with the fans (Blackpool away all I heard in town all day was “Heeeee’s Slovenian “). And Wilder brings in Connolly and defends every poor performance, playing Sporar one match, dropping him the next. Even when he left in summer Wilder made a comment that the fans had given Sporar an easy time - like he wanted us to get on his back! Ridiculous.

Taking the no.2 shirt off Djiksteel, making it very clear that Paddy would be playing RCB. Telling Bola he could leave then playing him LCB because he was obsessed with a left footer there. Fry being publicly humiliated. Forss and Hoppe not being allowed to pick number 9,10,11 when two of them are still free. Just awful awful man management.

So excited to see how the club push on now. Scott seems happy. Carrick is a breath of fresh air. The lads look confident, united and enjoying it again. Got a feeling we’re going places.

And even though a lot of fans have slated the summer's recruitment, recruitment team shambolic, Scott is the worst ever Head of Football at Boro etc etc I always thought - on paper - we had a decent squad. Not top two but definitely a playoff pushing one.

Bottom three - not a chance. But results and the table didn't lie and there we were. A few good halves/half hours every few games wasn't cutting it....and keeping our fingers crossed Wilder would somehow turn things around......just glad Gibson acted when he did.

Wilder was a fraud living of his past at Sheffield United and couldnt get the best out of the most of the players he played recently after the Burnley debacle, they lost trust in him, He lived at Pilmore Mews on the Rockcliffe site with other Boro players and staff and never spoke to any of em after work/games etc which I find strange. I'm glad he is gone tbh.

That’s what I kept saying as well as yes we’re not brilliant but no way should that side be in the bottom 3 no chance.

Aye. As I think many of us said, what we didn't have was a squad to play Wilder's preferred system. Particularly once Tav went.

While I'm sure he was frustrated we let Tav go and were unable to recruit all the players he wanted, that's football. Particularly at a championship club. He just refused to try and adapt.

Whether that's because he was incapable of doing so or was just being stubborn to prove a point doesn't really matter, either way not a good look for him. A good manager adapts and works to get the best out of what they do have.

Particularly when I don't think there was any pressure to guarantee promotion this season from Gibson. But Wilder was on his own timetable it seems. Despite talking previously about needing 4 or 5 transfer windows.

His next job is massive for him, but I think anyone paying attention to what happened here will probably be wary. Chairmen and people in the game talk to each other of course. I'm not sure he'll be able to get as good a job as he probably thinks he's due.

He might have been frustrated at tav going but I would suspect the toxic atmosphere at the club really reinforced Tavs decision to leave

When you look at Wilder’s record, it is very good (apart from with us) but is very much getting the best out of experienced players and building a team that way. He had 1.5 seasons at the top where he could buy better players and push on and he didn’t last. Wasted a lot of money and made his team worse. Will be very interesting to see where he ends up. Lower end championship club I think, doing well with another underdog team I suspect.

Got to say, I can’t stand the man! Completely believes his own hype. Needs to learn some humility if he wants to succeed at the top.

No it wasn’t! His last season at Sheffield was poor! That’s why he was sacked.
