Injuries and the free agent..

100% this.
If MC had brought on an acadamy player on Tuesday with the game in the balance at 2-1, and we conceed a goal - or two.....imagine the vitriol on here.
Exactly this.

MC is under pressure. He knows that. Whether his job is hanging by a thread or not is something we don’t know. But there are plenty of fans who want him gone now. People posting about “must win games” and “he’ll 100% be gone if we don’t win tonight” etc etc.

But he’s also supposed to bring on a youngster at 2-1 when we’re backs to the wall? So a possible future manager knows more about him?

I don’t disagree with the bigger picture - I have no idea about McCabe, McCormick, Woolston etc as they haven’t been given a chance - but MC was absolutely right to bring on experienced players on Tuesday.

Except it's always tight. Then again, even when we were 4-0 up against Luton after 60 minutes, he could have given Ayling a breather at left back and brought McCormick on but no. If it's tight, if it's loose, if it's hanging out the middle, whatever, never will Carrick willingly bring on an academy player.

At some point you have to make a leap of faith as Leo did with Hackney.
This is fair. Those 3 games when we were scoring 15 goals were the ideal opportunities, that were missed.

I’m not disagreeing with you - but I just stated that they always bring on the more experienced players , whether rightly or wrongly

I'm agreeing with you as well. Most managers, including Carrick, do exactly that. However, a huge part of our football plan is making use of an £8m academy which means that our head coach needs to be someone who can bring on youngsters even when an experienced player is available. Not every time but also not never.

Another Achilles injury Deing thats 4 , what is the fitness coach doing to the players?
Suppose it's still a relatively small same size, but does seem to suggest it's a training and/or surface issue.

I'm sure someone said they were looking at the training pitches as a possible cause last year, but no idea where they got to on that.

To say he doesn't trust youth is rubbish. See the opportunities he has given to Rogers, Doak, Illing Junior and Morris.

Maybe the issue isn't that he doesn't trust youth players. Maybe it's just that ours aren't up to the required level. Look at Finch. We all thought he was going to burst through a couple of seasons ago. Went on loan to MK Dons and could barely get any minutes in League 2. Calum Kavanagh another one who was meant to be next big thing. Currently also struggling for game time in League 2.

Of course we all want to see youngsters come through from our academy. But Carrick isn't going to put them in just for the sake of it if they aren't good enough. Would be career suicide

Clickbait article I read suggested dani Ayala.
Just what we need. A 40 year old Ayala, just released by potters bar playing **** about in front of your own box.

I thought Carrick might have thrown one of McCormick, McCabe or Woolston on for the final few minutes the other night, but instead he brought Giles on, who failed to track his man. I don't know why he's so averse to giving the kids a chance, especially in the middle of one of our worst ever injury crises.
Because we were only ahead by one goal. No manager in their fight mind woud stick a kid on in that situation unless he had to.
