Injured by moving

I suspect that’s a hugely understated figure. I’m quite sure that if I was to have an accident in my trousers I’m certainly not reporting it to the DTI any time soon!
The government will need to set up something like the Cones Hotline to report incidents

I had the audacity to get up out of a chair a few weeks ago. Won't do that again without thinking. Lower back completely went.

My back absolutely hates me.

I pretty much have constant lower back pain, just to varying degrees.

I don't think I have fully evolved and would probably be better off walking on all fours.
Yes! Me too. Do you find that whenever you get up from sitting you have to walk hunched forward for a while until it eases?

I’m in for surgery. Seems to be a torn ligament.

Great news really. I will Parkrun again - it’s not as bad as I thought.

Calm night in Snipers Alley

Calm night in Snipers Alley (if you know, you know) 🤫
Stumbled across this thread
(and somehow didn’t injure myself in the process) 🥴
I’m 56 now and although the back has to be carefully managed these days - I do sit ups every day just so I can strengthen it a bit and I do press ups each day too.
It seems that my body feels better when I give it some activity - I attribute this to playing a lot of football over the years.
And I think my body liked the activity and got used to it.

It’s just that gradually in the last 4-5 years, I’ve been getting less motivated to jog (which I used to do 3 times a week)

It’s like I’m dragging myself out against my own will (!) WTF.
Where has my motivation gone ?

Then, over Xmas the inside of my knee started to feel a bit sore - I’m convinced it’s lack of activity.
🤷‍♂️
I’ve also, in just the last 6 months been getting bouts of gout in my toe ankle ‘knee’ (!) etc and I’ve given up(a bad habit I developed ) of having at least 3 small beers 🍺 each night
I stopped the beers at the beginning of Feb so hopefully the gout will settle down.

Safe to say I can relate to you all as I to fight the inevitable but I think I’m up for the battle 🤔
Convinced ? Me neither 🤷‍♂️🥴

I sneezed a few weeks ago and it felt like I'd cracked a rib. It took a couple of weeks for the pain to go away also :(

I'm ridiculously injury prone!
- I have cut myself opening a margarine tub.
-in the summer I broke my finger and cut it quite deep by closing it in my car door.
- I cut my finger tip very deep and took a chunk of finger nail off using a potato cutter thing.
- I'm pretty regularly looking at my hand and it is cut and I don't mean a scratch I mean cuts that scar.
- my Mrs takes the mick as I have a habit of closing doors before my trailing foot is fully through and hurting it(yes I'm an idiot)

That's is just a few examples of my extreme injury proneness.
I also get aches and pains in joints and neck but I have arthritis in my back which seems to make other joints hurt if I'm having a flare up.

I’m firmly in the use it or lose it camp.

I’ve ran roughly 3-4 days a week since my youngest was born (she’s 23 now). Some god awful photos of me, from when she was born, made me change my habits.

I hope to be back at it, post op, within 8 weeks. Had to do it privately, which goes completely against my principles, but I have to work ( no option to be off sick) and need to exercise outdoors to keep a steady head.

Feel sympathy for everyone in a similar position. Getting rickety, just sucks…

We gotta keep on, keeping on folks 👍

I strained my neck sneezing a few weeks ago. Could barely turn my head for about a week. Couldn't train for a fortnight.

I'm not even 40 yet. I feel sorry for you old buggers
I done that when I was asleep, not long ago too, was like the worst whiplash I've ever had.

A full body morning stretching routine should work wonders for most people, as they get older. Think something like Yoga probably does the same thing, but wouldn't see much point in an evening class or whatever. Trick is likely to be to stretch gradually, before you start doing any other major moving.

I like the 'snipers alley' idea as I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I might sneak up on it though just in case it's trying to lull me into a false sense of security.

But that assumes you don’t injure yourself stretching!

I’ve woken on a morning being fully aware that when I move my head even a fraction I’m going to Rick my neck, it’s a most unpleasant thing.

Yeah, got to ease into it, no sudden movements.

If you're going to injure yourself starting off with a slow stretch, then you're 100% guaranteed to do it when you move quicker at some point, later in the day.

Maybe even worth doing morning and night?
