Indian restaurants in Teesside..?

It is in the works whatsapp group chat aswell. 1 claimed everywhere in Teesside is **** an we should go to the Dilshad in Hartlepool (He refers to H'Pool as Country Durham and not Teesside)
I've never been myself but people I worked with some years back raved about Dilshad.

been out the country for 3 years and used to head for the A66 Akbar Dynasty ( used to be a little chef ) heard they was a bit of trouble with staff working without a permit ... not sure if its still going but the food was delicious ... just been informed it is closed due to the staff issue

Divides opinion quite laregly, but i'm a massive fan of Akbars.

Indian Cottage in guisbrough is on a different level, but i still don't think they have re-opened the restaurant since covid - takeaways only.

Le Raaj on the RBT where the A689 meets the A177 near sedgefield is excellent although not been since before Covid, Vadah in Stockton is also excellent, went about 2 months ago and wasn’t disappointed, the old Akbars dynasty on the A66 near sadberge used to be good but I noticed it is called Tulip now so not sure wether it is under new ownership or they are just trying to move away from the trouble they had??

Very subjective topic but I'll never stray far from the Massala on Borough Road.
Had some great meals here but I've also had some very weird experiences where the wait staff on 3 separate visits asked us to give them a cash tip while the manager isn't looking as he takes it off them. A trip advisor review from 2 years ago said the same thing so seems like a long running thing, and I doubt someone stays in the job 2 years saying stuff like that about their boss, shame as the food is nice but that is off putting.

It's still going but rebranded I think due to all the issues, or it's opened up as a new place in its own right, one of the two

Took the wife to Vada (usually her favourite) a month or so ago and we both were less than impressed, food was bland and the waiters couldn't get us out quick enough despite us pre booking and making no excessive noise and neither of us were eating like animals.

I used to love akbars and would visit regular pre covid, not been for over a year but will be going back for a chicken tikka & keema balti extra hot in the very near future  .

I've always found their meals very dry - I don't want my dishes swimming in sauce but they really seem to go to the opposite extreme. Not used them for a while now though.
Gene - you just ask them how you would like your food, maybe dry or with more sauce and they will accommodate.
