If we lose tomorrow...

I think if we lose tomorrow, depending on how badly I suppose, the writing is on the wall for Carrick.

As much as I want to see the bloke turn it around and get us back to the level we were on last season.

But if we lose tomorrow and/or drop a stinker of a performance, I think the crowd and majority of the fan base on social media will turn on him.

It's already maybe about 60/40 people wanting him in vs wanting him gone? I think given how badly we've started his job is on a knife edge. Not saying I believe Gibson will pull the trigger but eventually Carrick's position becomes untenable

I think it's a difficult situation with it being Southampton - They haven't done as well as expected, and lost a few games, but they have the potential to beat any team convincingly.

If we lose 1 or 2 nil tomorrow, I won't be overly concerned.

However, if we lose to Watford and Cardiff - I might start to worry.

Obviously, I am hoping for a bounce back and the form we showed last year starts to appear again.

But that first half on Tuesday was the stuff of nightmares. I am really concerned that Southampton will give us a ruddy good shoeing and put 4 or 5 past us.😩
Sheff Wed are such a poor team - I dont think we will play a worse team all season - and we really, really struggled with them.

Doesnt really matter who takes over (and who would want to come here at this moment in time?)

The players arent good enough who have been brought in that is the top and bottom of it. You can get away with 2 or 3 prospects but not 7,8 or 9 unproven at this level

If we go behind on Saturday the stands arent going to be a nice place to be sat in

I think if we were to continue on the same trajectory the international break in October would be the time were anything to happen as it would give a.n. other the opportunity to assess some of the players. I really do not want the trigger to be pulled though, well not on Carrick, as I do not see him as the issue, but what I or anyone else thinks is irrelevant. I am behind Carrick and want him to continue even if the worst were to happen, I believe in him but less faith in the recruitment.

Agree with this. If we're still in the bottom 3 come the October international break then he's gone I reckon.

The final game before the break happens to be Sunderland away as well. Really hope they don't put the final nail in his coffin

is any other manager going to get a tune out of these young players - not sure they would.

I always disagree with this argument. Remember the squad Warnock had after woodgate got sacked. I remember everybody slagging off the players Wilder had and Carrick did ok with those.

I'm not saying these players are fantastic and another manager will make us a promotion side but I'm sure we could get a tune out of them. For example, Engel looked horrific against Sheff Wed and you just decide to continue to leave him one-on-one with the player who is destroying him. Where are our midfielders and wingers getting back to support him.

Tactically. Michael Carrick is not putting players in a position to succeed in my opinion.

This squad is more than good enough to not be bottom and have won more than 2 in the last 17 league games.

That's the problem when you stink the place out against the likes of Huddersfield, QPR and Sheff Wed. Eventually you start running out of poor teams to play.

I agree that he won’t go if we lose tomorrow and he has at least until the Oct break and even then if performances improve without results he will get more time

But it’s not true to say it’s just about recruitment - yes we have bought badly but he’s not getting enough out of any of the players, this squad should be mid table and the fact they aren’t is largely down to him

The Team have clearly stopped playing for him as you can see on the field.
McNair was told he could leave.. then not
Coulson signed a new contract.. dropped
McGree has been in and out of the side..
Jones has been moved to the left..
Rogers should play on the left
Latte Laff could play deeper
Greenwood should be further forward
Coburn had a loan deal.. then he’s benched
Barlaser.. is not as good as Lewis O’Brien
Engel was dropped in straight off the plane!
Silvera jumped the queue.. Kinky
Why stick to the system when we can’t fill the rolls.. are we having pre season played out in the league?

If any manager doesn't have a win after 8 games they would be under pressure, but he can only p*ss with the pot he's been given, and let's be honest most of our new signings are p*ss poor, there not Championship level, and did Carrick ask or want these players?
I've said on previous threads, Quality is better than Quantity, i would rather have 2 or 3 decent signings than 10 average ones.
Pep Guardiola wouldn't get a tune out of our squad, we only have a few good/average players at the club, the rest of them are div 1 standard, hence why we are bottom.
So if the writing is on the wall, when or if Southampton score 1st and go on to win the game, then who would come in and improve our team/squad.
I think we are better off sticking with Carrick for now, that's if he wants to stay and try and turn us around.
