If Blackburn fail to beat Luton...

... then Coventry will just need a point next weekend, as the 7th-placed team (Sunderland or West Brom) will have 66 points, to Cov's 69. Anyone fancy a gentle injury-light stalemate at La Riv... to help end Sunderland's chances...? :D
Even if Blackburn beat Luton, Cov will still just need a point because Blackburn and Millwall play each other so only one could overhaul them. Sunderland would be praying for a draw at the New Den to sneak above both teams into 6th (provided they beat Preston natch).
Sunderland need to hope Blackburn lose on Monday then Millwall fail to win their last game.

If it gets to around the 70 minute mark and we're drawing, with Sunderland winning then it would be ideal if both sets of players decided to call it a draw but it would be too risky in reality.

We could play it about at the back to run the clock down but imagine if one of their players picked up on a loose ball and scored.

We don't want to go into the play-offs on the back of a defeat, although it will be hilarious if the game does end up as a draw and Sunderland beat Preston.

What made it even funnier, I mean worse, was that the incorrect result was announced at the Everton game and the Sunderland fans started celebrating!
To be then told the correct score .
And that reminds me of a final game at Oakwell between Barnsley and us. Barnsley beat us 1-0 but we were already in the playoffs. The announcer announced that Brighton had only drawn and that they were also in the playoffs. Cue celebrating pitch invasion. 5 minutess later the announcer had to eat humble pie and Inform the amassed crowd on the pitch he’d only given a latest score and Brighton had got the winner deep into injury time thereby pipping Barnsley. Oh how we laughed.

Remember that! It was roasting hot. ‘Let’s all laugh at Barnsley’. 😀

Haha. Remember that game well.

Was a bit tasty after the game, Barnsley fans were a bit narked 😂😂

Does it make Sunderland more or less likely to qualify if Blackburn lose tomorrow?

Basically, they'd need Millwall Vs Blackburn to draw, but I'd say a Millwall win becomes very likely if Blackburn are effectively out of it already.

Yes. If Blackburn lose then they are basically out of it as they have a -3 goal difference. so even beating Millwall and hoping Sunderland etc don't get to 68 wouldn't be enough. Then they'd be odds-on to roll over at Millwall. In that scenario, then Sunderland would be looking to get above Coventry who have a +12 to their +10. Say Blunders are winning 2-0, we are 1-1 with Coventry after a game where both have tried hard(ish), Sunderland would be in a situation where they would get in the play-offs if we score.

Carlsberg don't do last day of the Championships...

The other thing is Sunderland already hate Coventry from an episode 40 odd years ago.

Should we draw and it keeps Sunderland out of the playoffs, Sunderland will assume it's all about them. But of course draws happen all the time.
