I think he’s going to be in trouble.

That clip doesn't look for him. IF he was being threatened he made no obvious attempt to remove himself from the situation. He could have stepped back to increase the interval gap. He could have put his hands up and/or pushed the other lad back.

Premeptive strikes are allowed in law however, there are a lot of other things you can try before that. He wasn't backed into a corner. The other male was stood still and not closing him down and all that relates just to his initial strike. The further strikes to the male as he was on the floor are a further matter.

Purely on that footage it does not look good.

The only question I'd have is that The Sun are likely to have the moments before that and chose not to show them. It'd be a clear cut assault if nothing has gone on before, so why not show it?

Stupid thing to do regardless. Glad we have the grown-ups in charge.

Also, you can now get seven years for a one punch manslaughter if the victim goes down and hits his head. None of us know what lead to this blow but to continue hitting him when he's on the ground doesn't look good.

haha - there is no way he will EVER be sentenced the same way as any ordinary person.

No way he’s keeping his job after that. Regardless of what was being said the other bloke had his hands down and there was no threat.

Be surprised if he doesn’t get prosecuted.

I can't understand how a clip like this doesn't have any footage prior to the assault. The cynic in me would wonder if there was an agenda.
There would not be any point as you can't hear anything from CCTV. As AM says the guy who is hit has his hands in his pocket.

Sadly cases take so long to get to court over the past few years that there is little hope of justice for a typical victim. When your day in court is up to two years after the offence, there is plenty of scope for 'he's changed' and casting doubt on witness memories from a couple of years ago.

some cases seem to be fast tracked, others brushed under the carpet

Not sure what's gone on before but he's sucker punched him. The other bloke is looking away in a casual stance. The MP has thrown another 4-5 shots when the bloke has gone down as well. It's a very dangerous thing to do, especially if the person hit was intoxicated.

yep. Whatever went on before the brital attack - these days, you just can't get away with this - but he will.
