I think he’s going to be in trouble.

Need to wait for the facts. If some idiot has stared on him then fair enough. Public figures get enough stick. If his response if over the top then he should be sacked.

I agree it doesn't look good; but, we need to know the full story. IF the man has been threatening him then a pre-emptive strike I believe can be a defence, though I may be wrong on that.

There is footage that also clearly shows the MP telling him he'll not threaten him again so I beleive there must have been some sort of threat. Not enough info to make a judgment one way or another at the momeny IMHO.

A pre - emptive strike or continuing to punch him when he has been knocked over?

You don’t have to wait to be hit first to claim self defence.

It is always best to wait to know the full story before any judgements are formed.

I agreed it doesn't look good - however, if someone has been threatening me and I feel genuinely scared, if I manage to punch them and they're on the floor I'd quite possible want to make sure they weren't capable of having another go of me.

If, once the full circumstances are known, it is proven that he has assualted the guy then he deserves all the punishment he gets.

You don’t need to keep punching him after you’ve knocked him over either.

No matter what is said, there is no defending that. I will be very surprised if he doesn't resign before he is sacked tomorrow. I also feel he will be making a court appearance in the near future.
