It'll be interesting to see how this pans out. As I see it we are unlikely to get promoted, the automatic slots are beyond us now, the best we can do is a playoff place. At best that gives us a 1 in 4 chance, realistically probably less than that. So unless the recruitment team can spot another Archer the biggest risk is we spend too much on a player.

The recruitment team have done pretty well, let's not make their jobs more difficult by coming over all demanding and entitled like them from up the A19

Steve, totally agree, it's notoriously easy to get all the players you want in january, and equally as easy to get get them in quickly.

Doesn't matter how much business you do early in the window. Failure to sign anyone on deadline day will always be interpreted as not trying etc. etc. by some.
The FOMO when other clubs are doing business (which actually I note they're not) kicks in.

I always remind myself that change isn't the same as improvement: for all the ins and outs at other clubs, the standard stays more of less the same.

I agree that spending big money on loan players is a bad idea because it almost certainly won't give us a return on investment. Permanent signings that will improve the team for the rest of the season and next year should still be sought.

Why they have had only average impact over their Boro careers. Both half decent players but not consistent enough and both missed time with injuries. More so McGree.
