I don't think it's going to happen

But, imagine if we did get promoted.

Most of us ( not all) have really struggled with the team and manager this season. It would be a bit of a mad one to reflect on but hey , we take promotion if we can get it!

Reason I'm starting the thread because no matter how i try spin it the truth is we are only 3 points of a play off place and we have to play the team currently in 6th on the last day to play so it is there for us for a play off finish.

I have no trust in this team at all but I would absolutely be delighted if we manage to find some consistency and end up finding a winning forumla a bit by default with Howson and Borges at the back and Iling Jr at left back.

Let's see how it goes. If we don't reach our targets then of course a change is going to happen but it's probably best now if we put all negativity behind us and get behind the team for a final push. Footballs a funny old game.

We won't get promoted this season. We may make the playoffs if everyone else plays like QPR. If we did miraculously get promoted, I'd go find a hobby for a year as I have no interest in watching us beat Sunderland's record low points tally for a season.

I still think we finish Top 6.

I still think we'll slip up at some point in the playoffs and fail to win promotion. I'm basing that on our performances last time we reached the playoffs rather than performances this season tbh.

I (stupidly?) still think we stick with MC next season. I'd prefer at least one more season with him in charge...providing we recruit well over the summer, and we strengthen our coaching staff.

As you say, funny old game. It's mid-March and we could finish 5th or bottom half!

I'd fear the worst if we got promoted with this squad of players.

Saying that, I would still rather go up, with this weak squad with a 1% chance of safety, than not go up at all.

Don't see us finishing in the top 6 to be honest. Our season has been so so inconsistent. And even if we finished inside top 6, I think the 2 teams that finish 3rd/4th (Sunderland +1) are much stronger than us both on the pitch and mentally.

If we finish top 6 then that means we'll have had to go on a good run of form and we'd likely be the in-form team going into the play offs. I don't see that happening though.

Same but it is there for us. I really think the next 2 games are must wins. I know it's a cliche in football terms but I think we must win them for us all to fully believe again.

I don't get that mindset at all. Firstly we wouldn't start the season with the set of players. The squad would be completely different. Secondly at least we'd have the Premier League money to come back down and seriously start to build. It's better than the alternative which is hovering in perpetual mediocrity in the Championship.

Unfortuantely I think those 5 defeats on the bounce are going to cost us. Last night I said that I'd be happy enough for us to take 4 points from our next 2 games so that we keep within touching distance of the playoffs, but we then have to play Blackburn away and Leeds at home.

Realistically I actually think we need to win our next 2 games. This is the consequence of that terrible run - we really can't afford too many more slip ups, and we don't want to be going into the Leeds game needing a win.

I'm one of these supporters who refuses to give up until it's mathematically impossible, but I do still feel it's unlikely we'll make the playoffs.

I'm not ruling anything out this season until it's definitely not possible. I have been critical of his defensive set up since the early part of the season but I naturally assumed he would resolve it, if we do find a better defensive set up because of injuries I will take it, sometimes that is the way these things work out.
I still think that this season is mirroring last season, we may still have a player who will stand up and be outstanding, in the closing matches, upto this point last year what had Latte Lath done, we were still as a fanbase undecided about him. and he was less than bang average.

The team can only beat whats in front of us, QPR, Stoke, Derby where all poor but we got the job done and all of them games should of been more comfortable than they were given the chances we missed.

On our day we are a really good team but we have lacked concentration as a team, wins breed confidence, teams nullify us by pressing that's when we struggle, we have to adapt and find a way to counteract this a big man up front like a Josh or Crooks or someone like Lath would help in these type of games but we don't have them so we need to use something different.

I think the team deserves credit for 3 wins in 4 no matter what you think of the opposition.

Being in the prem is a hole different level.

Derby County have already done that.

Not really. We just have to win 1 match more then Coventry or WBA. Its looking like a sub-70 point 5th place finish this season which is super low. 6th is probably going to be even lower. We only need 5 wins from 9 to get 70 points. We can probably get there with 68 which means it can be done with 4 wins from 9, even more likely if one of those 4 is against Coventry.

Our form over the last 5 games would be enough but it's likely we'll be playing a team like Burnley who will have been in eve better form.

It would be a hell of a result given the context,

Lost probably the best striker in the league in January.
One of the worst injury records in the league, in fact one of the worse seasons I can remember for injuries.
Having to come from behind at seasons end to make the playoffs.
Likely to face one of the best squads in the league in the playoffs if we make it.

If we got promoted Carrick and the players would deserve major credit.
