I am really looking forward to see us tomorrow night

Me too. Carrick has been a breath of fresh air so far. The players really seem to have got on board with his ideas. He seems a really likeable lad, speaks really well. It's early days so I don't want to get too carried away but I think this looks like a good appointment from Gibson. He's bringing a feel good factor back to the club. Long may it continue.

I’m not overly concerned with the results at this stage. I want to see the team evolve and give me confidence after the break

Fingers crossed we continue to progress. Really please with Saturday and looking forward to seeing what the lads can do tomorrow. Might see a couple changes with the games we’ve played recently.

Michael Appleton's Blackpool issues mount as 14 players doubtful for Middlesbrough clash

The Seasiders have some serious availability issues ahead of a midweek clash against Middlesbrough

Blackpool could be without 14 players against Middlesbrough with a sickness bug tearing through their camp on top of injuries.

The Seasiders were beaten 1-0 by Luton Town at Bloomfield Road on Saturday. Michael Appleton's men produced a jaded performance, symptomatic of their fitness issues.

Illness caused major problems in Blackpool's preparation for the Hatters and it threatens to stir up more issues with more players looking doubtful. Charlie Patino was taken off at half-time due to fatigue after not training due to sickness.

Rhys Williams was confirmed to be throwing up at half-time with the same problem. Sonny Carey, Shayne Lavery, Stuart Moore and Ian Poveda were all absent from the squad too for the same reasons.

To make matters worse, the injury issues aren't easing either. Jordan Thorniley was taken off with a concussion and protocol will rule him out of the midweek match with Middlesbrough.

Keshi Anderson injured his hamstring on his return to the team but suffered a recurrence of the problem that has plagued him this season. Similarly, Liam Bridcutt missed the defeat with the same injury and is a major doubt for Tuesday night.

Callum Connolly will definitely miss out after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season. With no natural replacement available, Grant Ward could be drafted in to play right-back.

Throw in four long-term absentees, Jordan Gabriel (Lateral meniscus), Kev Stewart (metatarsal, Lewis Fiorini (Hamstring) and Jake Beesley (Stress fracture of foot), the problems are certainly mounting up for Appleton's side.

Must admit I've only watched one of the three games in full but the signs are there.

I still think teams can "get at us" though but that's as much a result of the style of play (under both Carrick and Wilder to be fair).

Prior to Wilder I think we had been to conditioned into thinking of Boro as predominantly a defensive team (Karanka, Pulis, Warnock etc). It's actually nice to see us open up a bit more.

As for Saturday, I do hope the trend of not getting what we deserve from games stops soon - it ultimately did for Wilder - but if it does I can see us comfortably avoiding the drop this season.

I think we will have a right crack at them, but we are not tight enough. It should be similar to the Hull game. We still need a bit of luck to win games, which we didn't get much of looking at the highlights of the Bristol game.

Looking forward to it. Blackpool in November, wind whipping off the Irish Sea..... 🥶🥶

Agree we just need a win. The lovely football will come in time once we have a few new faces in.

As it stands, let's graft for three points, climb the table and go into the WC break in a more comfortable position. Anything at Norwich will be a bonus 👍

Hopefully a good game and a good win.

If we do manage to win, that would be 7 points from 12 for Carrick, which is a respectable return.

Obviously easier said than done to get results, probably should have been 7 from 9 on performances so far.

We don't need to win tonight - Oh, me too allied.

It is vital we gain enough points over the season. Tonight is one opportunity to help that season long goal.

Carrick has a month to work with, most of the players, which I am sure he is chomping at the bit at. I want to see further progression tonight. A bit more team spirit, fans leaving Jones alone to develop his game and less vitriol on the match thread. thats what i want.

Been a while since I started looking forward to games, the apathy had sunk in for a bit.

Really should be looking for 3 points tonight if the Blackpool injury/illness concerns are legit.

Agreed, as long as we are not getting thumped, it's about the performances.

What I like is that he is encouraging us to get our CMs on the ball far more. Howson for example has gone from an average of 50 passes per match under Wilder to 60 under Carrick. He is asking us in CM to drop if not marked then turn and be positive, if marked give it back but off the passing line to create a new passing line into the 10. It's simple stuff but it's effective, because a) we're not playing in straight lines which takes greater defensive awareness from the opposition and b) we have people moving towards and away from the ball which doubles down on testing the awareness, concentration and tactical knowledge of opposition players.

I like what I've seen with the ball, still plenty to work on out of possession.
