Huge respect given

To the gentleman who stopped a fellow human being from jumping off the bridge on Borough road that goes over the A172.

I was on my way to pick up the missus from work and saw her start to climb on to the railings.
I drove back round to where she was and thankfully someone had already stopped her from jumping, or I would have stopped to try and talk her round.

Massive respect from me to him, hopefully this message gets back to him eventually.

Hope the lady in question gets the help she needs.

Jesus wept. That’s horrific. Huge pat on the back for noticing, and well done the anonymous hero.

Reminds me of a few weeks ago when an elderly Asian gent had broke down on the corner of Croft avenue / acklam road and was trying to push his car towards the petrol station.

I was about 15 cars back stuck behind him, and one by one they just overtook him, with some even beeping at him. I was the only one who stopped and helped him push his car into the garage. He barely spoke a word of English but signalled he was ringing someone to pick him up.

I’m not saying this to say how amazing I am (although obviously I am), but it just says more about society in general and how selfish we’ve become.

It makes such a difference doing that small thing. Good on you.

Doggy flyover?

I fell off it swinging on the scaff playing folly me leader when they were building it. Bust my humerus and dislocated my shoulder.

My hand was up by my armpit and they didn't pit it in plaster cos it was too swollen. Eyaz! It was like a big black Michelin Man arm after they put it in a machine a stretched it back out.

I was only a bairn.

My hand hardly went round the bar and it was raining, but couldn't lose face in front of the big lads

It was the bit where Lytton Street goes under it by the abattoir. Landed on dolomite. Thought my arm was in a hole behind my back cos I couldn't feel it.

Sounds like a brutal injury to be fair!

The things we do to impress our elders… We’ve all been there.

Our adventure playground was the industry over the road from the Rivers area. Walking along a 10 inch wide pipe, 30 foot up never phased us ;). (You weren't allowed to show you were bricking it).

Peer pressure?? It didn't seem like it at the time. It was more just being competitive with your mates.

If our mother's had known what we were doing to impress our mates.

Down our end, any road. UTFB
