You have to bear in mind, he played like that for 100 and odd minutes with the South Korean wizard in his pocket too. Phenomenal (do doo, de doo da)
 
We’re finally seeing what we paid 6 million pounds for nearly 5 years ago.

Brilliant performance tonight, makes me scratch my head what happened to him (and the others) on Saturday at Barnsley!
 
Howson was faultless, superb performance, but they all played well to a man, did us proud tonight.
I love this team this club, 👌

In fairness, it was a poor tactical decision by Wilder which led to that abject midfield performance.

Howson is rarely effective playing in the more advanced midfield role. He's a different beast playing in that deeper role however.

Inspirational, skilful, gutsy, full of energy, determination, FA Cup grit, solid, everywhere, impressive, and umpteen more adjectives to describe his performance. I agree one of the best all round displays Ive seen in a Boro shirt for a long long time.

Dare I say I think he goes down now as a member of the Boro legends club.

Totally agree - nothing flashy or super skillful about it, but in terms of carrying out his role, it was absolutely superb.
 
I've just watched his post-match interview and I actually think his hair is even finer than Matt's.

When I posted last night, I was going to say the same thing. I didn't know though if I was just caught in the moment and thought I'd reflect again today, but it is definitely the best I've watched, personally.

He is an absolute gem. Neil Warnock used to say that when on his day, there's not a better player in the division. I see what he means :ROFLMAO: 💪

He was absolutely class. Age isn't on his side but I hope he stays fit for as long as possible and is here with us until he hangs his boots up.
 
I was worried about some top Prem teams coming in for Jones in the transfer window,

After last night I think they will want Howson.

Absolutely fantastic display from him.

I can accept the comparisons to Pirlo and Mendieta, I can see the logic in the argument he’s a genuine all time Boro legend, but this is a bridge too far....

Can I just also say how immense he was last night. 👌
 
I think Mendieta v Man U is still the most flawless, complete performance by a Boro player that I have ever seen. But it's a testament to Jonny Howson and his level of performance last night that we can even have this conversation. He was outstanding, absolutely outstanding!
