Howson signs 1 year extension, other 4 extend till end of season

Great news. I am a little surprised they have let Enes Mahmutovic go. I thought he was someone we might have potentially got a fee for if under contract. At least the squad should be all settled now till the season concludes.

I’d guess his wage for next season will be the same, perhaps higher than he was on this year. He’d have been on a good wedge as he was Monks first signing.

Do the club have an option to pull out of the year or is it automatic? Bit of a no brainier in Howson’s behalf, this wage maybe 25% higher than he could get on the free market

I will always call things as I see it, If credit is due it will be given, if it isn’t it wont be. If I feel someone within the club or team is getting things wrong I will say so. I wont always be right of course and will have the odd mare from time to time, like we all do occasionally. The main thing is when anyone on this board has an issue or criticism, it is rarely done out of malice and actually done because they care.

Those that wont have an ill word said, like our friend, can not possibly have the clubs best interests at heart as they do not seem to understand that in order to improve, you first have to identify what needs to be improved upon. Often, fans can identify problems before people within football clubs do. Take the lack of pace and creativity within the squad that I and a few others first raised in 2015, its been lacking for a good few years now, it still has not been addressed properly, in fact they made it worse since Mr Gibson publicly acknowledged it in 2017

Yeah totally agree. Gibson has rightly been praised for decisions took this week and he will continue to be when he makes good decisions for the club. Only reason has been getting from a lot of recently was because it was deserved. We all want the best for the Boro.
 
The extensions announced today have put us in a much better position for survival, our rivals could be losing players over the next 2 days to weaken them.

I am not against any of those "one month" players staying for next season, but it will be on reduced terms on short length contracts.

Hopefully we will be competing in the top half of the Championship next season which might it more appealing for the players.
 
Look I love JH and am chuffed he has had his contract extended. Let's be honest though he will have been on a fair salary and considering his options. No way at his age would he get his current salary anywhere else. It suits both parties, we are mutually beneficial. The clause suits everyone thankfully, Ayala/Howson is merely swings and roundabouts # UTB
