With obrien coming in could we play howson in a back 3? He reads the game well back there.

Also allows us to switch to 4 with him RB.

Not sure we will ever play with 2 up top but we need to get goals in the team. Could replace Coburn with Silvera and go 2 wide FWDs.
 
Carrick will not play three at the back imo, it will always be 4231 as you look at it but as he says the team are aloud to be fluid in attack as long as they do there job defensively.

Absolutely ridiculous team
 
after the wilderball shoite only the lord could explain why some of our fans think that wing backs are a good idea.

This semi reminds me of when I was in secondary school. One of my mates wasn’t massively into football. He was a little bit geeky but started following it more further into school.

Anyway, we went round his one night and he had a football manager game from an early 2000’s season. It was a random one not actual FM. He was telling us how hard it was and he can never win a game with Boro.

We loaded it up and his team was an absolute car crash 😂

He had Schwarzer at LB, Pallister as a Striker to name a few. Basically 90% of the team was out of position.

He just didn’t have a scooby how to play the game and any understanding of players and their positions. We soon fixed it for him but basically said he needed to stick with Mario etc.

Thankfully with some very knowledgeable and friendly mates, his understanding greatly improved over the years! 😄
 
Howson in the middle of a back 3 isn't that bad of a choice, he would make a very good sweeper imho as hes a midfielder and has the control and ability to cary the ball out and has generally good distribution, we already know he can play well as a centre back as he has played there enough under previous managers in the 3-5-2

But i detest formations with only 1 player covering the wide areas

if we played a back 5 with wingers, that would work better, i.e a 3-4-3 in transitions, not the 5-3-2/3-5-2 in transitions under wilder as versus 4-3-3 it doesnt work as you have overloads
all the time in the wide areas
