How many years before Britain re-enters the EU?

But they don’t

You’re in the minority of probably 1% that thinks labour should campaign to rejoin

Labours polling is high because of their pro brexit policy

If you want them to change that policy Labours poll ratings will drop 🤷🏻‍♂️
You do make stuff up, don't you?

At last, somebody on this thread with a brain!
Two posts lumped together as absolute trash. Same peddled nonsense back in 2016 stating the eu would be in trouble soon anyhow so best get out
While the uk tetters on the edge of oblivion we eu is looking pretty stable despite all we’ve seen for the past 6 years

His ???

I think you’ll find it was the other fella
You have a very short memory. After the referendum Starmer said Labour had to respect the vote. Then he began his volte face talking about the peoples vote nonsense. His duplicity concerning Brexit lost him all those red wall seats. As much as he would want to bring the North London Labour Party back into the EU he knows out there in the country it’s not a vote winner.

It was defo Starmer and his 2nd referendum malarkey.
Also painting Labour as the party of remain’.. resigning didn’t help Labour’s chances either!
Corbyn fought the last election not starmer is my point losing the red wall was on him.

A lot of voters are stupid in terms of their critical thinking but they are not daft when it comes to self interest.

They will come to realise -are already starting to realise - that their lives were better whilst we were in the EU.

Once the polling is hugely suggestive of this huge swing in opinion then noises will be made, very tentative noises, towards closer ties with the EU.

It would be monumentally stupid for Labour to make any kind of murmer about steps towards alignment with the EU at this stage.

Let the tories destroy themselves and then we can see where we are.

The last thing Labour should do is give all the slavering lunatics a single issue to rally round. The only issues should be how inadequate and negligent the tories have been for the last 12 years.

After all that, I'm going for some kind of SM/CU access bodge job within 10 years.

Absolute rubbish.Labour voting Brexiteers never forgave or forgot Starmer‘s duplicity and took their revenge in the 2019 G.E. Hopefully he has learned that lesson.

Corbyn did not lose the Red Wall seats in 2017, possibly 2 or 3. It was 2019 and the lack of much progress on leaving the EU that I would guess was an important issue in 2019.

Corbyn and McDonald had a bit of passion about them and I felt they were more genuine about re generation of old industrial areas, not sure with Starmer and his close associates. A doubt with Corbyn and MacDonald is go carry change through, expecially with so many Labour MPs negative towards them or luckwarm.

I was at a investment conference yesterday and heard Robert Peston verbally savage the last 4 Conservative Governments which almost all his 25 minute speech - his topic was economic outlook for the next 12 months. Someone from the audience asked him what a Labour Government would do and all he could say was they have a policy for Green Industries.

If only labour when in power had signed us up to all the workers rights that you get in the EU. Brexit would never been voted for by the working man

It makes sense for Labour to be very vague on what they would do in government.

As we saw with the EU ref, allowing people to pin their own hopes and dreams to a vague whisper of a framework can be very effective.

Labour's attack needs to be nothing other than we are not the tories, we are not the reason for all those covid deaths, we are not the reason your parent died in a hospital car park as there was nowhere to offload them from the ambulance. We are not the party who starved kids to save a few quid. It goes on and on.

Labour need to be the party for change, they do not need to specifically map out that change.

Brexit was won with one slogan on the side of the bus.
As long as Starmer proves that he is massively investing in the NHS he will be able to sign up to any agreement with EU he chooses to. And if he wants to revive the UK economy without trying to reduce social welfare that is exactly what he will have to do. On the plus side, being outside the EU he will be free to do small c conservative things like forcing foreigners (including other EU countries) to have private healthcare like they do in places like The Netherlands

Perhaps the question ought to be how long before the EU and the Euro collapses? In the long term the Euro as a currency is not sustainable, given the incompatibility of the various economies within the Euro Zone. Any attempt by the UK to rejoin would mean accepting the Euro, and the financial debacle that will follow its collapse. Best to give it a wide berth for the foreseeable future.
This is exactly the point. As soon as Germany‘s voting population realise they are propping up several countries who choose to go for a snooze at 2pm the the afternoon…the sooner the EU will be gone.
