How is your alcohol free journey going?

The pub I work on, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT an old couple come around 7pm and won't leave till closing, they have 4 or 5 pints each and about 10 shots. One time I saw her have 16 shots.
Define old.....

My ar$e holes aka parents used to always leave the house at 10:30pm to have the last pint. They hated each other and never understood this routine

this thread reminds me..... how much longer do we have to wait til the FRIDAY BEER THREAD ffs

I think that answers the question

Off it for a month apart from the odd glass of wine with a meal.
If I knock booze, sweets and bread on the head the weight flies off.

I honestly can't see the point of drinking zero alcohol. It's just as expensive to buy, and a pint of lime and soda cost about £2 and has the same effect, zero.

Because people like the taste of a beer? I went 12 months drinking coke and various and sodas. It isn't about the affect.

I had to lay off for a while due to medication a few years ago. It's hard to find an alternative while you're out with your mates.

I ended up being a pint of iced water with a touch of lime bloke. It's no problem knocking a gallon of beer back but try doing a gallon of that 😄

Some people really do love the taste of beer apparently.

I am like you in that I don't buy zero alcohol drinks. If I am not boozing then I am happy drinking lime and soda or coca cola.

I prefer wine to beer but when I'm out in a group then I'll drink IPA or Lager, more for the alcohol than the taste though. I hate being the sober person amongst a group of drunk people.

Last drink was December 28th. First started with the goal of doing 100 days alcohol free. Felt much better because of it so made a new goal of not drinking till after the Edinburgh marathon, which is this Sunday (🤞 my foot allows me to complete it).

Now though, I cant see any real need to have a drink after it. Everything's seems to be better without alcohol. Sleeping better, more energy, more productive, full weekends, no hangover pizza/McDonalds/KFC etc...

I'd say the last few weeks have probably been the hardest with the warmer weather and the fact I'd passed my initial goal. I've also been working in Canada for 12 days and had a couple of free days to have a look around Toronto, which is a really cool city. The weather was great and there were so many nice breweries and bars where i could have easily sank half a dozen beers. Instead i stuck to the NA beer which definitely takes the edge off and woke up thankful that i did.

I'm not sure what my end goal is but my perception of alcohol has taken a massive shift over the last year or so. It's now not the be all and end all of a good time so whilst I'm still feeling good, I'm staying off it.
