How are you celebrating the New Year?

Well Jack Ryan is winning out at the moment, the problem.is even if I change my mind later I have a trek to the nearest pub, the unfortunate consequence of locals closing down over the last 20 years, and the other option of getting a taxi is ridiculously expensive as a result of taxis in Exeter being pushed to closure by one bigger more funded taxi firm , who now are dropping the competitive prices.

Declined offers to "see in the New Year" from friends. Probably in bed well before midnight. Never made much of a thing of New Year even when I were "of an age". If you are celebrating it, enjoy.

Couple of bottles of vino and one of bubbly with the evening meal which we re doing now - steaks at the core...
Then a bit of TV / Internet and watch the Fireworks and it's all wrapped and done.

Hope everyone stays safe and has a decent night whatever they are doing and with whom.
Happy New Year folks.

About 13 year ago I didn’t bother showing up to my mates NYE party. Stayed in bed watching movies. Woke up the next fresh as a daisy.

Ever since then it’s pretty much been how I spend New Year. A couple of times I’ve done something for New Year in recent times has been pretty dull so I just don’t bother anymore.

The bairn will be off to bed shortly. Going to have Thai for tea and a couple of drinks.

Will be in bed for 9-10pm. Get out for a run in the morning and then off to the match.

Have a good one folks!

I’ve never made a big deal out of NYE since maybe the latter part of my 20s as I just didn’t feel the need to. Maybe it’s because of seeing so many people drunk, throw-up, get into fights, arguments and the next day you’re picking up the pieces.

Granted most people are sensible and just see the new year in with a little cheer and perhaps a laugh with friends and neighbours which is the correct way maybe 🤔. My new year is also is a double-take as I also celebrate Chinese New Year which falls February 10, 2024– the year of the dragon.

Me and Mrs Woodall just got back from work (me JFK) so a bit tired but will still have a few drinks and probably watch Rik Astley and the fireworks, like others felt like I’d been mugged when finding out how early they film Jools Hootenanny. Have a great night everyone and safe travels and let’s raise a glass for Sadgit. 🥂🍻💥

Mam and Dad used to throw a great new years bash then on to other peoples houses. Since both are no longer with us we stay at home in York now lost my best mate in July to Cancer so also not really in the mood. Not really celebrated here even the local club shuts at 10am. Back off to work in Argentina on the 2nd so will be a few single malts then off to bed with she who must be obeyed

Big old skool NYE bash at a friends house, the pubs aint what they used to be so do it at his with the first footing ,whiskeys etc

Sat on a wet and boggy campsite near York. We always come away for new year as our neighbours are bell ends at the best of times but unbearable on NYE.
Got the brother and sister in law with us so a few drinks and a card school tonight.
Best wishes to all Mooners for 2024.

Takeaway and telly. We’ll be in bed by 12.30 I suspect though. Here on the very quiet Isle of Bute.

Used to do the whole “let’s make it a large one” thing when lived in London and Sydney but it was never anything other than an anti-climax, or it seemed so at the time, and even then I also know that those days can never be recreated now.

Done a few in Edinburgh too, ***ed down/freezing and actually pretty crap. But I do have good memories of them all the same.

Can’t think of anything worse than spending tonight in Manchester city centre.

Looking forward to the match tomorrow more than anything.

All the best FMTTMers.
