On one hand, the recruitment team let Carrick down by not having players through the door, but it was also down to Carrick's ridiculous decision to persist with Rogers as a striker.
It was clearly not working, yet he still dug his heels in and started him up front on the opening day. He was clearly just hoping he would come good.
He should have started Forss as our striker pre-season and built the attack around that. He could have experimented by rotating the likes of Rogers, Jones, Silvera and McGree, until he found a combination which appeared to be most effective.
