Based on what? He’s played a total of 56 minutes of football. I bet you’d of written off Engel after 56 minutes. Total rubbish

Of course it’s possible that he hasn’t impressed in training etc, but to write him off as if we know ourselves how good/bad he is is daft.
If he ever gets on the pitch I’ll be very interested to see how he does, but as it stands I know virtually nothing of him.

Means one of 2 things. He isn't fit to play or he off to somewhere else. If he plays for us he can't play for anyone else this season.

Lots wrote off Engel after today's performance . Total rubbish were the words said .His man Sakamoto scored twice , good player ,has 6 goals this season , but did we underestimate him , or did Engel ?
Bangura should be 1st choice for me , Engel is a liability.

If we are hanging our hat on him we have huge problems. He will be going out on loan again.

Not sure anyone has said we should hang our hat on him to be fair. But given we have youth team players on the bench, it is understandable people are curious.
As I said above, if the coaches think he’s crap, that’s fine, they thought Akpom was too for a good while though. Personally, I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve seen him, or he leaves for good.

Id be stunned if he plays again for us. That's based on 56mins. Also the 2 managers and 2 loans that he's failed to impress.
I mean he's hardly lit up the league in the SPL or in the states. Neither particularly 'difficult'.
Has of a similar age asJosh Coburn. Coburn looks far more likely to 'make it'. He's had so many clubs already and failed to nail down a first team spot or score remotely consistently.
If he plays one min or less for us then he's with us the the rest of the season. I imagine another loan then probably leave for nothing in the summer. It wasn't a random punt. He cost 2.5mil.
I've seen him in the flesh for 15-20 mins (at best). Doesn't remotely look like a goal scorer. Just runs around a lot. Hey I maybe wrong. I was about Watmore.

You cant blame Engel for Sakamoto's first! Was a loose ball from a corner. (although i don't disagree with the overall sentiment of the post)

Yeah this is my thoughts too.
We are bare bones we have one 75% fit central striker available and we are missing four of our other attacking players from the first team squad.
He's been back a couple of weeks, if we wanted to utilise him we would have had all the paperwork in to register him ready at 00:01 on January 1st you'd think.
The fact we haven't, with Coburn just being nursed back, Lath, Forss and Crooks injured and Silvera and McGree away on international duty strongly suggests we are not going to use him to me and he'll be shipped out again fairly shortly.
I know we are absolutely bare bones and we need 'a squad' but the amount of minutes and Carrick's willingness to use the likes of Kav, Gilbert, Hoppe etc. suggest we may as well get rid, either on loans or permanents.

He will have to be rergistered for us won't he as he wasn't in original 25 man squad Not entirely sure how named 25 players works but as Monday was a bank holiday no doubt the FA was shut so couldn't register him.
In saying all of that, I'm not sure we are going to keep him as Carrick didn't really sound as if he was waiting anxiously for him to return.

It was a loose ball because Engel nodded it straight out to the penalty spot in fairness. He headed it into the worst possible area he could have apart from putting it into our own net himself. He should have done much better. Out for a corner or out towards the touchline. Schoolboy stuff.
However, he's not solely to blame for the goal. Again we have allowed them to attack one of our weakest aerial players with one of their strongest players at the front post. Barlaser is just eased off it. It was kept out by a good save from Glover.
