Hope we go for it this summer

Looking at it with the Sheffield United Luton and Burnley coming back down next season should be the easiest best opportunity for us to get the automatics. But we have got to go out and show ambition this summer spend big and gamble abit more. We must have a good buffer with FFP to go for it next season now surly we haven't spent much for many seasons now. I don't want us to be signing all develpment players like we did last summer want some more proven quality to come in

You have no chance, i reckon. We will continue to search for hidden gems from abroad. To buy big we would almost certainly have to sell big.
We are determined to comply with FFP and I think, eventually, that will pay off as others are punished for not complying. We cannot live even further beyond our means. Gibson already props the club up with millions a year.

I'd say we're banking on some gems as mentioned, but there looks to be minimum upwards of £15m wiggle room in FFP without any sales. Need to look at forward areas, full back and midfield.

Team on paper looks decent, it's the squad that needs depth.

Will you all accept big rises on your season cards and merch to fund this?

Our FFP position is now strong.

We have very good player trading profits in the last 3 year window. In fact incoming amortised player purchases that fit within our window have now massively reduced, with players like Brit finally off the FFP window. So even before player sales there was room.

We have a decent FFP allowance this summer. We could spend 15m no problem. The "go for it" angle needs us to keep our best players, and 'risk' buying players that are amortised over 4 or 5 years, meaning the immediate impact on our budget is reduced, so we actually spend say 25m, knowing that failure to get promoted means selling someone next year.

Our signings this summer ranged from less than 1m players like Glover, RVDB, Bangura and Silvera, up to 4m for Latte Lath and he was the only player at that end of the scale. I think it will be a different strategy now, 3 or 4 players in the 4-7m first team ready bracket (still young players though), and a couple of less than 1m players.

Whilst we need to invest, we need to invest in the right players and not just for the sake of it, I feel we've done alot of that over the years.

Not expecting many, if any, big price tags. But think we might go a bit bigger than we did this year with a few more in the £2m-4m bracket.

I do think the club are open to spending big if what they see as the right player becomes available (eg. Strand-Larsen, Archer) but those deals are hard to do and Gibson won't be held to ransom, so fairly unlikely.

I'd say the fact the3 teams you mention that could be coming down are the teams that had just gone up is a negative rather than a positive.

All 3 will be able to hit the ground running without any major surgery or disgruntled players.

Often, albeit not this season, you don't get all 3 teams cruise at the top like Leeds/Leicester/saints, you get one or two of the newly monied parachute clubs that have a bit of turmoil (like when we came down!!!)

I can't see Sheff United hitting the ground running, the club is a mess.

Burnley, you would assume would be the one to go straight back up especially if they stick with Kompany.

Luton, could well see them losing the manager which would be a big, big loss. Some of their key players might get have their heads turned by PL football after having a taste of it.

Forest, could really go either way given the mess they are in financially and the ridiculous number of players, plus another likely change of manager.

Our front line will have a revamp with McGree and Forss rumoured to want away
I would make Sorba Thomas a priority, if Huddersfield go down we could get him at a decent price 👍

Not a patch on jones. Set piece delivery good, but all round game poor. Watched Huddersfield quite regularly and he's hit and miss. Nee to be looking at better if we want to go up.

Any decent free transfers available this summer?
Looking at the list on the transfer market:

Shandon Baptiste – Brentford – Central midfield

Jayden Bogle – Sheff Utd – right back

Are the 2 which would fit our budget and covers positions we need to.

On another topic, looking at that list, Sheff Utd have got one will of a rebuild on their hands, if they don’t renew the contracts

I still maintain that we'll sell and only recruit projects regardless of how much FFP room we apparently have.
Our position is to pay money for younger players only. 24/25 year old max.

That will continue. We will only sell the Crown Jewels if they want away and a big offer comes in. Hackney or rav sale would pay for three ready made first teamers each.

We already have the ffp space for 3 or 4 first team ready players.

Projects, can be defined differently. Someone like Gilbert or Nkrumah who has no real men’s senior experience, clearly a project. Rogers and greenwood with some experience and expected to be in and out the side. Or someone like lath is still a project at 24 or Bangura at 23. Plenty of game time, first team ready but a project in that they haven’t played at this level
