Help, I've Been Kidnapped By KLM

Let Newcastle at 9.25 this morning for a quick transfer in Amsterdam and an onward flight to Chicago.

Flight left Newcastle a bit late, but then circled Schipol for an hour because they only had one runway open because of high winds.

Landed 20 minutes before my Chicago flight was due to depart, but was told they were holding the flight for me.

Except now they're saying it's too windy to let anyone off the plane. 😳

We've been sat on the tarmac an hour. My Chicago flight has taken off. The weather suggests it's going to be like this until at least 9pm. Anyone want to send me a care package?

In the days when I was making regular flights to and from Schiphol, they always broke out the spirits when anything like that happened.....

If you've missed your onward flight anyway them you may as well get yourself back for the Stoke match as every extra voice roaring us on will help! 😄

Hope you get sorted out, but at least Schipol is a nice airport to be stuck in (if they let you off the plane!).

Decent Dutch air stewards though?

Your flight to the Windy City being delayed by high winds is Alanis Morrisette levels of "ironic"

Great. I’m sat on the tarmac in Luton waiting to take off to Amsterdam. First time I’ve heard a pilot describe the weather at the destination as ‘very very very windy indeed’

Looks like I picked the wrong day to give up heroin.

terminal D, murphys bar... job done

Well you should be able to claim £600 in compensation, we did coming back from Japan, missed our Teesside flight and had to wait over 5 hours in Schiphol.
Yep, my son got compo from BA when he missed his connection to Sydney at Heathrow plus his taxi and hotel expenses. Mind you the tight git is still expecting me to poppy up for his season ticket, it's not even as if he's good company at the match.😄

Tediously pedantic point; it’s was originally called the windy city because the inhabitants were so aggressively vocal about a political campaign.
Though, having spent a chunk of time there, the wind does come in off the lake at a fair pace.

Don’t think you will as it is weather related and therefore classed as being beyond their control.
I had a similar scenario a couple of years ago at Heathrow ,my flight was delayed because high winds had blown a set of steps into the aircraft and caused damage ,or so they claimed. They had in fact used the aircraft on a different route.
I argued that the steps should have been secured and therefore it was their negligence and not an act of god,I won my compensation.
