aided by the Tory press. Many people won’t. The Tories will do a good job of demonising minorities again (gunning for trans people this time certainly - and that’s working based on some evidence on this board, along with asylum seekers as usual) and people will vote that way.
A country run by Tories for the benefit of their own mega rich mates.and cars you can no longer drive. Meanwhile the rich get richer.
What kind of country is this?
They would end up running at a loss. the margins for a Supplier are only 5% apparently (Assuming they don't also generate the Electricity). Why wouldn’t ‘Scottish power’ just as an example , come out and say “ we aren’t raising costs, we will stay at the same rate”
surely with the thousands switching over to them, they would make much more money anyway
You are missing the point, I am taxing the inflation on the house. Why should any of us work our entire lives to pay for a house that the majority will eventually go back to the state?
But then it would make it almost impossible to move up the ladder to a better house. Not sure I can agree with that, a house is the biggest investment most of us will ever make, taking away profit from this will make it even harder for working classes to ever progress. I could make an argument for it if it was property that was worth millions perhaps, but not for around the average price of propertyYou are missing the point, I am taxing the inflation on the house.
Use me as an example; we bought a house for £100,000 and then sold it a decade later for £225,000. In my view the profit of £125,000 should be taxed at 40%.
Perhaps property ownership could be more accessible if wages kept up with property prices, look at the government for thatWhy should inflation be tax free? We do nothing for it. You are still giving your middle to old age siblings a fortune. Why should they have an advantage over a couple who could not get on the ladder and had to rent?
That's not the answer surely it's the wrong way round. House price rises have been ridiculous boosting wages to keep up would just inflate the housing market further.Perhaps property ownership could be more accessible if wages kept up with property prices, look at the government for that
There's deffo and energy company somewhere missing a trick with this like. But then I suppose they are all ran by money grabbing tossers who give no crap about anyone other than themselves and their shareholders. Why wouldn’t ‘Scottish power’ just as an example , come out and say “ we aren’t raising costs, we will stay at the same rate”
surely with the thousands switching over to them, they would make much more money anyway
Amazing, can't tax the rich because things will cost more.
Hook, line, sinker.
I'm not saying it's right. But it is 100% what would happen.
If you want the rich to stop getting richer, stop giving them your money.
How would it? they have done that because of sanctions. Unless you are going to put other countries assets in their own nation that are producing the natural gas, what and how do you propose taking ownership of, under what pretext and how would it keep prices down? They've seized that subsidiary because of sanctions, not to start making money out of it. We import more gas than we use. Even if our government took ownership of every bit of UK gas somehow, it wouldn't be enough to supply the nation. And it would run out very, very soon. Why can't put government do something similar to protect its citizens against rising prices?
No one is missing a trick, they would have to be an absolute f**cking moron to do that. Look at the price cap, look at what a fixed rate contract is at which price cap doesn't apply to, there's about a £2,000-£3,000 difference in price. They're losing money on variable deals because they cant charge more than the price cap. It is costing them more to but the fuel than they can legally sell it to us. If someone said "hey, we're going to charge less than the price cap by £200" then they'd be haemorrhaging money because there would be the existing losses plus that amount. Would be a bit like you saying lets get some people in by paying them £60 to have a meal. You'd get customers and be rammed but you would be bankrupt because you've still got operational costs, staff to pay and you'd need to be paying your suppliers, who are putting their prices up. But those customers can now have 3 meals a week at your place. Are you missing a trick by not doing that deal? course you aren't. You want customers, but you aren't going to put yourself out of business to get them. There's deffo and energy company somewhere missing a trick with this like. But then I suppose they are all ran by money grabbing tossers who give no crap about anyone other than themselves and their shareholders.
Oh Viv! (Swoon)Tackle tax avoidance.
End subsidies to business that don’t pay tax in the UK.
End taxpayer-funded subsidies to business that pay dividends to private shareholders.
Renationalise and redistribute.
At some point, we’re going to have to stand up and fight back against this shower of despicable, entitled, lying, racist f*ckers. Let’s do it now.
