He is staying put 💯💯

Several managers have stated the same about recruitment, are they all fibbing? Even Downing backed up that he felt AK didn’t want him. I am sure NW agreed to Akpom in the face of him or nobody. He needed bodies In. It is more to do with how we play that does not suit him imho.

"I'm delighted to finally have got him.

"He's been my number one choice. I've wanted him for a long time. I'd like to give a big thanks to Neil Bausor (chief executive) for getting it done."

Boro sign Akpom - Northern Echo

Several managers have stated the same *after* the event. The people involved are, or will be, I imagine, discussing and recommending players to each other all the time. Like a poster said on Saturday it will be more collaborative at times. But managers don't have to work for Boro under these awful conditions do they? They will know how things work when they arrive. Warnock himself said he rejected a possible defender last summer. If he isn't sure about players he is of a strong enough character to say no rather than sign them off and then throw the recruitment people under the bus six months later.

Did these recruitment people sign Morsy, for example? Are these recruitment people good now because of what's happened with Bola and Dijksteel? They spotted them, after all. Or do they, or the chairman, only do the bad signings?

Was worried that we`d brought Warnock in with no look to building for the future given his age and where he lives.

Sounds positive and although SG has made some mistakes in the past he still does have the best interests of the club at heart.

Hopefully the 2 can strike up a good relationship and put a plan together to lift the club up from what is looking like just another club flirting with the playoffs

Fingers crossed UTB

Great post. There's a lot of revisionist history.

Have a read of the Gazette following today's press conference - Warnock might be seeking to change our interpretation of his comments.

Southgate - dreadful decisions
Strachan - appalling, the clubs worst transfer period
------------------------------------------
Mowbray - excellent penny stocks
-------------------------------------------
Karanka - dodgy january signings
Monk - dodgy signings
Pulis - payed over the odds.. dodgy
-------------------------------------------
Woodgate - some canny signings
Warnock - only let down by a lack of a striker

At least we seem to be getting better..

People tend to generalise - for example Mowbray had some pups that Kamara from the USA and the full back that went to Leeds. I thought AK signings in the Championship were generally good - Bamford on loan, Nsue, Stuani, Ramirez (in Champ), Clayton, Tomlin, Kalas on loan, Foreshaw, Fredericks on loan. I didn't think Downing, Rhodes and even possibly Nugent were his signings.

Pulis signing were expensive overall, - but solid McNair is doing well, Flint plays for a top 7 Championship club, Saville is doing a sound job, Hugill will likely get a Championship winners medal. Pulis went for the ready made that he knew would settle in easily but thus likely expensive.

Even Monks were not all bad - Howson, Johnson, Randolph, and Christie were fine, but he paid over the top in fees and wages as everyone wanted instant success. Brit, Fletch, Braithwaite and Shotton less so. We never had a team under Monk, too many players, too much chopping and changing.

I can see the model should be take players around age 21 and develop them as happened with the Woodgate signings to become regulars or sold on at a profit. With odd signings of more experienced where gaps need filling. Add in young players fro the academy and it can be a nice mix.

To me if over 50% of signings do well its good going, it is a risky business, unless you have hundreds of millions to spend.

ps very good news about Neil Warnock and his assistants staying, he's a good fit for us and we are a good fit for him and we are both getting to know that. I get the impression its taken him time to figure out the "lie of the land" @ MFC but he is most of the way there now. I also think the club and even the fans interest him more so that other clubs he has managed.

Think this article proves he WONT be staying. You don’t go after Gill, Bausor and the recruitment team, Gibbo will back his men - they’ve put paid to many a manager. They will outlast the next few managers too. Fireproof is the term I’d use.
Well done Fassy. Very insightful.
