Hats off to Red Faction for their display

More of a self appreciation? What exactly do you mean mate? It's just a play on words from a song that is sung week in week out.
Absolutely nothing to do with self appreciation.
I can't believe you are trying to knock them after a display like that.
I know first hand how much time, effort and above all money ( generally their own money ) goes into these displays. At least give them the credit they deserve.
Having spent a few hours helping out at the ground a few seasons back putting flags on every seat in the Stadium I appreciate what the lads and lasses do but there is always the knockers who whinge and whinny about it but don't have the ballax to do owt themselves.

That’s why I was asking, because I didn’t/don’t understand the correlation between the flag and the display. I’m not knocking them, what they spend their hard earnt cash on is upto them, I wanted to know if this was a display to support the team/club or themselves.

Firstly tremendous effort and the work that goes in is rightly appreciated.

but if you have to explain what it’s about then you kinda do leave yourselves open….

I didn’t really get the meaning. But then I’m an old fart who only goes to half a dozen games a season and couldn’t tell you what half the bloody chants are these days.

I guess they can never win Aet. After all the graft that went into that they then have to take to the socials to explain themselves?
The idea of these displays is also the element of surprise when it is first seen. Having to explain what it's all about beforehand takes that away.

Totally agree with this. I love the RF displays, as does Junior Smoggy.
Showing our north east neighbours (NOT rivals, definately not a local derby), what it's all about to support the boro and in front of a TV audience.
Bravo.
Also had no idea there were fireworks. Was that RF as well or the TV company?
Yes they ARE rivals and yes it is a DERBY .It's only 25 miles up the A19. What team would you class as a derby

Love the fact that they are trying something, however;

The music cutting off randomly leaving silence was a bit odd. I can guess why, but perhaps an announcement of sorts would have encouraged the crowd to sing.
The red & white stripes were a little strange considering our opposition.
People didn’t know when to lift up the material.
The flashing white lights in the stand, were they meant to or did someone c0ck up?
The wording is not exactly synonymous with the club. There is only Red faction who try to get it going.

On the plus side;

Fireworks were a good addition, inside and outside the ground.
The ideas were there, just need some better coordination with the rest of the entertainment which I’m sure will come with experience.
The volunteers trying this out should be applauded regardless of whether any of us thought it was perfect or not.
I liked the red advertising hoardings. Sea of red should be our thing with perhaps a single white band.

i've ovly just clicked the sun rising japanese flag bit, live I thought why are they doing red & white mackem stripes, I'm pretty sure 99% of the audience thought the same. Perhaps the RF need to dumb down the messaging a bit, kinda defeats the object if everyone needs an explanation of what it means, but doth of the cap for their efforts
Stripes come in straight lines

Surely most fans could see the lines were diaganol - as per rays from a rising sun.

The Holgate in Boro Fan history had a special place, certainly from 1967 to 1993.

But it is now history and has been replaced in recent years by the Red Faction in the South Stand at the Riverside which has expanded since its birth in Block 53 in 2009.
