Red Faction organised the fireworks nothing to do with TV or the clubTotally agree with this. I love the RF displays, as does Junior Smoggy.
Showing our north east neighbours (NOT rivals, definately not a local derby), what it's all about to support the boro and in front of a TV audience.
Bravo.
Also had no idea there were fireworks. Was that RF as well or the TV company?
To the tune of "Bad Moon Rising"?It's a line from one of their songs which celebrates the history and culture of the holgate end at AP.

What are the rest of the lyrics?

I'm guessing it's the Japanese red army flag.Maybe I’m being utterly stupid, and I’ll be honest it wouldn’t be the first time, but I can’t figure out the link between Middlesbrough and the Japanese rising sun flag, hopefully someone with a few more brain cells than me can just quickly explain the context, be glad to get behind it but my understanding needs a bit of help with this one!
I think it is used by the Japanese Navy.I'm guessing it's the Japanese red army flag.
Has red army in the name and they were militant communists, much like red faction.
I can't imagine red faction adopting that!I think it is used by the Japanese Navy.
The flag is actually banned by FIFA due to its association with WW2. To a lot of Asian countries it has similar connotations of the swastika.
Are you trying to work out if we lost the game because of this?It was excellent.
However, does anyone know our record when we have a RF display / tifo?
NoAre you trying to work out if we lost the game because of this?
Self appreciation of what? So, it was nothing to do with supporting the team or club? More of a self appreciation display?
Was well coordinated with the football club and tweltfth man leaving flags out on seats for the North Stand = perhaps the new Holgate that was rising. You will also notice that the font used on the banner is a Japanese type font. It is also a sun rising hence the holgate end arising.
I thought it was brilliant and well done to RF![]()
More of a self appreciation? What exactly do you mean mate? It's just a play on words from a song that is sung week in week out.So, it was nothing to do with supporting the team or club? More of a self appreciation display?
Neither are Sunderland's I don't think.I thought it was excellent but the flames and fireworks finished it off nicely. I love sending photos of the displays to my Mackem and Geordie mates and point out they are not funded by the club.
