He could be quite cutting, I used to take him as tongue in cheek though. Must admit he did make me laugh occasionally. When him and Indeedido got going it was sometimes quite hilarious. I don't think anyone ever really meant it.

They've probably forgotten more about football than the collective "wisdom" on this board, and unless they're interested in knowing what car SmallTown drives or whichever tall story JustTheGent has invented this week, then they'd probably rather spend their time elsewhere.

They also probably know more about the ongoings at the club than anyone on here, so no need to pop on for rumours of transfers.

Because people always like to know what people are saying about themselves. And because people at the club will want to know the fans thinking.

Boro are a multi-million pound business. Any large business will keep a watchful eye on its customer and if there is negative feedback attempt to address that in any way they can. I have seen it with different organisations first hand. ‘Media‘ staff would occasionally interact with customers to promote good news, slap backs and paint a positive outlook. Councils, police forces etc even do it. Where negative comments are made certain staff were required to try to attempt to address things with a counter positive experience sometimes things were in an official capacity and some less so.

Some companies post fake reviews of products to boost products, some restauranteurs post fake reviews of dining out to boost custom and raise profiles, why would a football club not keep a weather eye on what thousands of their customers are thinking and try to address negative publicity?

Some players are always in and out of twitter, instagram etc, to think they wouldn’t look on message boards occasionally too would be bizarre imho. Some will do, some family and friends will too, they just wont admit it publicly especially on an anonymous forum, it would be daft. Downing seemed to have had some mates posting on the old board at one point. Our current manager admits he looks in on forums as do his family on his behalf too. I bet after a game if anyone gets slaughtered one or two other players will have a bit of banter on the back of it.

I would have thought general interest/sheer nosiness/being aware of the mood might persuade a few.
