Zorro has this strange mindset at the moment that Mercedes are some sort of malevolent force in Formula 1. Its bizarre. Listen to him talking about F1 and he clearly know his stuff but talk about Hamilton and Merc and you hear this bizarre fantasy world where Toto Wolff is the devil incarnate and Hamilton some sort of evil hall hound. Its an extension of that peculiar British trait of knocking successful things but it does mean he have to back himself into a corner and ends up arguing that a simple safety car pit stop was a sinister plot to put their junior driver in his place. Its really interesting to read. The things he'll say to argue against Merc and Hamiltons dominance. Personally I think, given both the AMG Petronas team and Mercedes HPP are British we should be celebrating them. But there you go, some people don't like successful people. This year, and yesterday's race, has proven that Mercedes HPP are just ahead of everyone else when developing engines. Honda created a "GP2 engine", Red Bull complained constantly about the Renault power and Ferrari could only make a competitive engine by cheating. I believe this should be celebrated. They have locked out Pole for almost an entire year this year. Checos win wouldn't have been possible without it.Yes he would have likely got past a few laps after the safety car, but those laps he would have been behind Perez would have cost him a chance of a win. Why would they put the driver in that position when they can just double stack and come out 1-2 which has worked many times in the past for them?
Are you thinking they have messed this up on purpose?
