Why were the away fans moved out of the south stand in the first place?

To let red faction generate atmosphere behind the goal, rather than being stuck in the corner?
With hindsight they should have moved into the north.

Why were the away fans moved out of the south stand in the first place?

The stadium was reconfigured when we got promoted as the club had to build two tv studios in the NE corner to comply with PL standards. That was where the RF sat previously.

If memory serves right though it actually changed a season or two before that and I think the primary reason was to have the advantage of fans at both ends and also something to do with making the stadium look more full with the camera changing sides.
