Halloween callers

We had about 8 lots of callers last night in Acklam. All I'm left with a couple of packs of tangfantastic Haribo

I had a teenager knock on my door last saying trick or treat, I asked what he’d come as and he said ‘a werewolf’. I asked ‘a werewolf? Why are you just in normal clothes with no make up or anything then? You’ve put no effort in’ ‘it’s not a full moon is it? dckhead!’ Was his reply. 🙄

Touche!

No one seems to sing

‘ the sky is blue
The grass is green…’

Rhyme anymore….

I always found the last line

‘If you haven’t got a ha’penny, your windows coming through’

So poetic as to melt the heart.

Did you get many
I am currently looking at a giant bowl of Haribos and lollys. Not one caller last night. Don't know if it was the weather or what.
I used to go out with my turnip in all weathers in the 1960s. It used to pay for my fireworks.
Perhaps you have a reputation as grumpy old fart in your neighbourhood....

Like you have on here.....
WHEYYY 🎃👍🤣📖✍️

In the 90s I rarely dressed up, I just put on a mask, the inside of which would get really sweaty and full of snot.
One year our mam did make a ghost outfit for me that looked more like a Ku Klux Klan outfit than anything else. I'm pretty much constantly in fear of getting cancelled because of this.

The code for parents is only visit houses with pumpkins or a display or you don’t know.

Live on a new estate been doing displays at the front for a few years now and getting more and more houses doing the same.

Last year and this year we have had car loads of people turning up it’s been mental.

Went through over 170 bags of sweets in 45 mins… and that was strictly one each

None here in N Yorkshire. I don’t think we did Halloween when I was a lad. Possibly a USA custom.
A few in our bit of North Yorks, but we did ‘play the game’. Growing up in the late 60’s, it was much more about bonfire night, rather than Halloween, which seems to have taken over., sadly.

Just been for a walk at lunchtime and depressingly the Halloween tat is now being replaced with the "Lest We Forget" tat.

I didn't recognise most of the kids that knocked on our door, or their parents standing at the end of our drive. When I took my lad out there were cars parked all over the place and according to most of my neighbours people were driving in, going door to door, and they buggering off elsewhere. I'll be asking for evidence of their address next year!
