I would tend to agree in the majority of instances but the audio and the images is enough to tell you which way the balance of probabilities swings in this case.

It was dragged in to the spotlight because his girlfriend released photos of the bruises and injuries he'd inflicted on her and audio footage of him forcing himself on her on social media.

The criminal charges came after.
 
Greenwood is back with the woman who he was accused of raping, she is not prepared to give evidence against him which means the chances of getting a prosecution are negligible, so the CPS have decided to drop the charges.

The audio and photographs were pretty damning but the fact she's back with him puts huge question marks against the whole case.*

It has to be hoped that other men don't take this as a green light to behave in similar ways and that women who are the victims of such attacks are not deterred from coming forward to the police.

*Wilkos_Perm in terms of the CPS, they had evidence which seemed compelling but with them back together and her refusal to testify for the prosecution those were the question marks that resulted in the case being dropped, should have made it clearer.

The videos, evidence or not, were disgusting and I would be horrified if I knew or thought they might be related to someone I knew.

I don’t think his transition back to public life will be quite as easy as some football fans may think or hope.

Hopefully this doesn't end badly for the previously alleged victim. It doesn't send a good message to either victims or would be abusers.
 
If she's back with him, either he never did actually rape her and she made out like he did because they'd had a row. OR he has a very strong hold over her that is probably going to end very badly for all parties. I suppose the third option is that she thinks he's 'changed'. Who knows.

I don't know why the fact she's back with him brings huge question marks. It happens all the time in abuse cases.

It could be lots of things including those but they probably lots of other reasons

Well it could be she’s willing to put up with domestic violence because he’s rich
It could be her family have influenced to stay with her


Highly unlikely but just pointing out we don’t really know why she’s got back with him only she will

This seems to be the key line.

It suggest there was enough evidence to proceed, but with this withdrawal, there no longer is.

It does invite speculation as to why it was withdrawn.
