Greenwood’s miss

Having been lucky/unlucky enough to have witnessed all 3, I would grade them as
3 Fletcher - had to react quickly, speed of thought not his strong point
2 Greenwood- at least we won
1 Currie - I was in the Holgate and cheering goal and couldn’t believe he had failed to hit the target, we went on to lose the game

It was a common or garden bad miss. A dozen like it every day. Going in at
speed, keeper rushing out, tries to lift it over him, gets it all wrong.

I actually thought it was Silvera initially, because I'd remembered him missing some sitters earlier in the season and I shouted "Silvera you useless tw@t" 🤣

Had a horrible feeling it was going to come back to haunt us but luckily I was proven wrong.
Silvera has missed one as bad this season

Ha, great photo. so many with their head in their hands, including Currie. It's kind of a universal gesture. I guess.
There was quite a well known photo of the kop at anfield I think with every fan holding their hands over their heads after someone had missed a sitter. They interviewed some gadge in this article who I assume was an expert in such things who said the reaction comes from when we were monkey type creatures and that we did it to protect our heads from danger. Chimps do the same thing.

It looked horrendous but at full pelt, the ball does bobble just before contact which allows him to get under the ball. It’ll happen most weekends across the leagues.

It was just the wrong contact. Still think he should score with a bit more care and attention, but it’s always easy from the stands or the comfort of your sofa.

Thankfully it didn’t cost us.

I’m happy to be wrong but at the time I thought he was trying to be too cute and want the finish that would blast an inch under the crossbar. The sort of amazing finishing you see from a Sala etc etc. In fact, the same sort of finish he completed against the great delusionals up the road. It’s an easy game though from the stands.

Just prior to the miss we discussed him being subbed and I said that id leave him on as unlike the others when a chance comes to him he'll stick it away. Oops!

Duncan Watmore missed more sitters than any striker I've seen for us (much as I liked him) but he had 2 that were the worst I've ever seen.
