UBI has its pros and it's cons and whilst in favour of it previously during the initial stages of the pandemic I'm not sure if the pros outweigh the cons. There are jobs out there right now that people don't want to do, the amount of those jobs is only going to increase with the introduction of a UBI scheme. But then on the Pro side of that people will actually go out and train for a job they are super passionate about without having to worry about food, bills etc.
Personally, our household is given a sum off of the government every month through universal credit. We've only been on it for three months and I'm not afraid to admit it has been a great help to our household and family life. Am I slightly embarrassed that we get a payment every month? Absolutely. But if the help is there then I'm damn sure going to accept it.
Should workplaces pay more? Absolutely. But I don't see the concrete connection to a Tory run government? If another party comes into power, sooner rather than later I hope may I add, are companies going to start paying people more because of some government led white paper? I doubt it.
Who brought in the minimum wage?
Who do you think (as a party) are more likely to try and do something about zero hour contracts or try to limit the power of unions to protect their members/us.
One party prioritises profits for businesses, the other, whilst by no means perfect is definitely more of an 'up the workers' party.
Always have been, always will be. The fact the MSM and increasingly think tanks, Russian money, ad agencies and social media try to make you think otherwise is a sham, the Tories whole raison d'être is to enrich the top 5%, Labour for all its failures and faults and trying to appeal to the middle ground is trying to do their best for us.
You, and the general population of these isles need to ask themselves, do I have more in common with people like Angela Raynor and Andy Burnham or Jacob Reese-Mogg and Boris Johnson.
We have a party leadership election and one of things as being seen as a positive is to bring back is fox hunting FFS. That is a vote winner to be the top Tory and eek your way into being PM.
This is our country not theirs. We should be fighting tooth and nail to not lose our hard fought gains post WWII, unfortunately it would seem the majority of the country would all rather spout the media driven 'they're all the same' and roll off their Missus and go back to watching Love Island.
I'm gutted with our apathy, I sort of wish I was French.
