I think that not being anywhere near Johnson’s cabinet might be an advantage in any upcoming leadership battle, tainted by association, also it’s going to be a really difficult task picking up the pieces of Johnson pernicious premiership. Maybe a short term experienced interim option to try and steady the ship and undertake the unpopular tasks that will be necessary to try and repair the disaster that we’ve had the worst person in the job during the most difficult times.

Also I don’t think there’s any good to come criticising those that admit they made a mistake with their vote at the last election, let’s save the criticism for those in power and those still defending the indefensible.

I'm not sure that Sunak would be interested. Isn't he already obscenely rich? I can't be arsed to look it up but aren't his family worth a fortune? Don't think he'd fancy the pressure of being in the top job.
Sunack's father in law is a billionaire but his own father was a GP and his Mum ran a chemist. I met him a couple of times when he was a new MP and got the impression he was too nice to be a successful politician !
I realised when he voted for Brexit that he was more ambitious than I had given him credit for. I didn't vote for him in the last election but would have him as PM in a flash compared to any other realistic candidates.
Shame Rory Stewart burnt his bridges.

Rory Stewart did the honourable thing in disowning the party that has dragged this country further towards fascism than any other in living memory.

I am not a Tory, but have to admit I like Rory Stewart seems like a decent fella

Completely agree, hence Jeremy Hunt keeping himself visible every now and then but keeping his distance from the cabinet. Personally, if I was a Tory I wold be looking at trying to entice someone like Dominic Greave back on board, would imagine it would be difficult to tar him with any corruption and has the gravitas to take control.

The Conservative Party was already very Brexity leaning, but there was a massive influx of bluekippers. It was effectively a coup and a takeover. Moreover the Conservative Party financial backers are very much in control and they are all Brexiters and mostly foreign nationals and non doms.

I don’t see them letting a Remainer lead the Party any time soon.

Got to remember that the last election was dominated by Brexit. That’s in the past now. People should be able to see how incompetent and self serving this government are.

Because it was his democratic right. I see the usual suspects are circling after he admitted to this. Millions of others did too even the likes of Hartlepool and Redcar are Tory. Says a lot about the Labour party. They need to be all over the latest stuff thats going on in 10 Downing Street.
Labour is all over the latest stuff and is doing a good job in calling it out. Have you not caught up with latest opinion polls?

And just who are these 'usual suspects'?

I can sort of understand people voting Tory in 2019. It was a one issue GE 'Get Brexit done' (that's gone well hasn't it?).

But now, two years on?

Quite clearly it's everybody's democratic right to vote for whom they wish but I'd challenge anyone still supporting the Tories to come up with with a reasonable explanation as to why they do.

Remember this:-

"There are two types of Conservative voter. Millionaires or the misguided. All they need to do is check their bank balance to determine which they are."

I definetly fall under the misguided, especially after todays 🍺 spending 🤣

If Bozo goes then the whole cabinet should go.... incompetence by association...it's a complete sh itshow from top to bottom... we've sunk that low were the laughing stock of the world
And guess which country on the planet is paying the most by a country mile for the Pfizer vaccine

Correct , maybe ask why its been so long & look inwards , you do not lose a shed load of seats by accident, i want a decent opposition because that holds people to account & that has been too long coming sadly.
Thanks for destroying the country 👍🏼
If you're going to make it personal, those who were swept along with the cult of Corbyn and the delusion that he was electable are as responsible for this Tory government as anyone.
