Red meat used to bring it on for me, was absolutely evil and my foot would swell like a balloon so i'd regularly be sat with frozen peas on my hoof, no painkillers touched it and i was nearly totally immobile. My GP said if i cut out red meat and eat blueberries once or twice a week i'll notice a difference so thats what i did. I would get a flare up once every 3-4 months but since almost completely binning off red meat it only comes once a year now.

It's actually overdue come to think of it.

Cherry juice and allopurinol. I also avoided mushroom( a fungus just like yeast)lm now on only allopurinol and even have mushrooms when I want wheras before they would kick of a minor bout within minutes .
2 or more years since last attack 🤯.

Pate is what I had to give up as that seemed to be what made me flare up. It is blooming horrible though so whatever I have to do to stop the agony is definitely worth it.

Yes, it's bloody infuriating. Suffered for a few years in agony from time to time.

That said, my GP finally relented and prescribed Allopurinol which has been an absolute revelation.
same here.

I thought I had broken my foot and big toe.

Since taking allopurinol I have not had a repeat performance.

Just started wìth gout. Awful, makes me feel sick. Worst time is night time in bed.

Just got a doctots appointment on Thursday. Hope this helps.

I've been on 300 mg of Allopurinol for years. Huge relief.

I had initially completely changed my diet, and stopped drinking, but I still got a really bad attack. I don't have any problems since starting on the tablets..

I know the lad who posted the tweet. Nice fella and a big boro fan. What's it all about though? Like him I'm a bit nonplussed by it all

Toby Tarrant (standing in for Chris Moyles) on Radio X mentioned it this morning as the phrase Gout Life was used in a conversation with a family member over the weekend so he searched it on Twitter and found this single post so asked the listeners to like it 🤷‍♂️

Used to suffer big time and wouldn't wish it on anyone.
It was trial and error food wise for me and narrowed it down to shellfish and red meat. Cut them both out and got prescribed Allopurinol and no problems since thank god.

First had a couple of attacks when I was bad with Colitis (auto-immune inflammatory stuff) and still get the occasional flare-up. Usually stress-related.

I've found that Apple Cider Vinegar as a drink morning and night for a day or two as soon as there's a twinge sorts it out (about half-an-inch in the bottom of a pint glass then fill with water).

Being the good scientist I've stayed off the vinegar for a few days to see what happened and wished I hadn't - however, the vinegar works in retrospect too.
