Gluten free

We've eaten in loads of places in and around Boro that cater for GF. Pubs like The Six Medals and The Sandstone Nab, to places like Central Park, Olivellos and further out like The Otter and Fish in Hurworth (I think the owner or the chef there is Coeliac so they do loads) - Doesn't necessarily have to be GF acreddited, we used to try and find places that were and then discovered if you go to most places and tell them you're coeliac and need GF options, they accommodate you. Our experience the other night was a mistake on their part which they admitted, but she has probably had 2 experiences of being given gluten by mistake in around 10 years.
Have you not been to the ‘Green Apple cafe & bistro’ on the edge of Stokesley ? They are fully Vegan but have an extensive GF options. Great lunch option (not open evenings) and according to trip advisor No1 restaurant to eat out in stokesley of 26 eateries; (!)

Schar bread I’ve found is the best. Supermarket wise I’ve found Asda/Tesco offer the widest range of gluten free products. I’m recently diagnosed coeliac and it certainly wouldn’t be a life style choice for me. I’d give anything for a pint of IPA and a big white ciabatta!!!!!!!!
Not specifically IPA but the gluten free Speckled Hen is nice and readily available in supermarkets.
Wold Top Brewery also do a decent selection.

My girlfriend is gluten and lactose intolerant, so eating out at restaurants is a pain. Most places cater for one at a time and rarely both. So if we do venture for a meal she normally has to suffer the next day. But she loves the warburtons bread, specifically the tiger bloomer. She also seems to be okay with some beers which have a low amount of gluten. Beers/food with a gluten content below 20 ppm are supposed to be suitable for people with celiac disease. These guys have measured the amount of gluten in certain beers
Low gluten beers
Beers low in gluten
We also find there are a lot of foods not labelled as gluten free which don't contain wheat and are suitable. Though this might only be worth it if you're doing it as a lifestyle choice and might be risky if you're coeliac.

Tesco do Greene King IPA in bottles as GF as well as the Old Speckled Hen. They also do a Brewdog one which is good. Tesco's offering on drinks is pretty good!

Thanks for this. Might try and check out next time we're up that way! (y)

Correct with the 20ppm thing. As above my wife is Coeliac and has horrible reactions to gluten, she had a beer at the weekend which was listed as having up to 20ppm and was absolutely fine.

I've been dipping in and out. I tended towards brown bread rather that white instead of going for full gluten free and I felt a lot better for it.

Lager was a big one for me, its more expensive but gluten free has halved my hangovers as a lot of my trouble is my body/guts reaction to lager/ale.

I think i'm a bit half arsed with it at the mo but certainly cutting gluten down/ modifying a few things has made me feel less bloated/ lethargic.
Peroni is gluten free, I think

A friend of mine is also GF and he reckons the Peroni one is the best of the bunch when it comes to the lagers.
I agree. its the one I've gone back to.

Stella was alright too I thought.

Green King ipa and speckled hen were both spot on I thought too.

Not had the brewdog yet.
