I'm doubtful tbh. Be interesting to bump this thread in the summer and see what has happened.I think you might get smaller festivals in August/September time. Glastonbury is so huge that the build starts months in advance and they have to book stages and other temporary infrastructure a long time before that so with no help forthcoming from the Government (quelle surprise) it was always unlikely to go ahead.
What is it with outdoor stuff they are so worried about exactly? Everything I've read seems to say that outside the chances of transmission are super low. I assume festivals and the like won't be frequented by the over 70's with chest complaints either.
Is it the proximity in queues, toilets, accommodation and public transport that is the concern?
I feel the same with stadiums, surely the Riverside could hold about 10,000 and maintain decent distancing, but not through the turnstyles or at the bar.
Some events in the summer may need to start planning months in advance, so when do we say that process can start?
Exactly. And also, Glasto isn't just for the young and healthy. Loads of music genre's attract all sorts of ages. No chance it was going ahead.I agree about outside activity, and football stadia etc where some minimum distancing can probably be observed, but there's not really a way to do that at a music festival. Glastonbury for example has 200k+ ticketholders, you can barely move most of the time are are up against other people on all sides.
Even the 'smaller' festivals have 80k+ people there. It's just too many to have in one place when there's a virus like this circulating. OK, you probably won't get sick if you're young and healthy, but as we've known most of the way through this, you can carry it to someone who WILL get sick.
