Giroud was always the danger

I couldn’t understand all the mbappe talk before the game as for me giroud was always the biggest danger to England. As he’s basically spent his entire career ( Chelsea and Arsenal) out thinking and out scoring English defenders, just as he showed.

I think we also knew that our weakest players were in defence.

With a ref who was happy to allow a few rugby tackles in close situations Maguire should have been all over Giroud like a rash rather than letting him get in front. The cross came in too easily as well. France had nearly scored just a minute or so earlier.

Twice in a couple of minutes giroud lost his markers getting between the two of them the first time he should have scored the second time he did. Plus where was the pressure on griezmann to stop the cross. You can't expect to win top level matches with such bad defending.

Maguire was the danger. I listened to Ferdinand prior to the game talking about Giroud and had to agree with him. Giroud is not the player he once was and should have been in the pocket of Maguire. He wasn't.

Ground is as good as ever he's never relied on pace and he's got more cunning with experience

The guys 36 years old, of course he’s not the player he once was. Talk about stating the obvious. Still, he’s an absolute threat and like said, his movement is still exceptional.

Really find it hard to dislike Giroud. You could see how much it meant to him scoring the winner. He’s been seriously underrated the majority of his career.

Much preferred his celebration to Tchouameni's.

Giroud nearly in tears with joy for scoring for his country, Tchouameni pretending he wasn't bothered.

Always find it a weird choice of celebration.
