Just a tip for paywalls in the future, if you click the 'X' icon next to the URL as the page is loading quick enough, but not too quick, it usually loads in all of the article before the paywall blocks it. Might take a couple goes.

Considering it's the Teesside Gazette you'd think they'd mention that Teesside's major football chairman and one of the top Teesside businessmen was backing Labour's McEwan for Teesside mayor

Incredible. The Gazette have not even mentioned it. It should have been the lead story.
They do have a photo op with BenT at Middlesbrough train station though.
An absolute disgrace to journalism, the people of Teesside and confirmation (if any was needed) that they are owned by Houchen and his henchmen.

He had the decency to reply. This is his response:
It's a good question. We had a reporter meet Mr Gibson yesterday where I presume he made the same or similar comments and she is working on an article as a result.
Without knowing all the ins and outs, I presume this is just down to timing and whatever contacts have been had with the aforementioned and when. They (the Northern Echo) have happened to publish a story on his views first.

In fairness, Newsquest tend to be more Tory aligned and Reach more Labour? So it is odd that they've not reported it.

This won't look good for Houchen, or the airport passenger numbers I expect, albeit too late to impact the numbers from previous. LogainAir pulled the Aberdeen flight.

By the way Reach are certainly not Labour aligned locally and haven't been for many years now. They do like to go with the money ie the advertisers.
