The irony being allardyce was playing one up top with Bolton while Sven stuck to 442 as it was what English players were used to.

I rate them all pretty much equally, loved watching them all, I've always favoured Lampard over Gerrard. I enjoyed watching Beckham in his prime over all 3 of them.

Agree about this. He was a lovely player to watch. Many people forget this because of his “status”, but at his best he was ahead of all 3 of these imho. He was United’s best player around the turn of the century, and they were one of the best teams.

Scholes only actually played left wing at one major tournament.

And if you listen to him talk about it, he says that it wasn’t a big deal to him as he regularly played on the left for United and did well there.

I'm with heam here, gerrard carried Liverpool for years

They were an inferior side to the team's the other two played in, that's why.

The England side look better now than when those lads were in midfield.
