Germany reclassified UK Risk area after Indian variant

Or perhaps when they stopped travel to certain countries it meant for everyone and not just the plebs!! Seems as if we didn’t need AZ or Pfizer after all as the antidote to COVID-19 was £50 notes all along!

Indians make up about 2.5% of the UK and naturally travel a lot between home and their ancestral lands. With Coronavirus and the variant being rife in the Far East, "stopping flights" is quite involved and I'm not sure that anything better could have been done without a lot of British citizens being locked out of the UK.
Other countries have managed repatriation flights. Just allowing free travel made no sense.

That’s a fair point - if we had handled the situation domestically better then maybe we could have had domestic tourism, staycations etc and would have seen an improvement at home. Let’s see maybe as we have a lot vaccinated that will be the first signs of tourism recovering on the domestic front.

the argument being held above seemed to be about international tourism which I maintain you can’t just blame the gvt of one country for.
People travelling here is international tourism, and people from here flying abroad from here also boosts our travel businesses and airlines.

Getting the nation downgraded due to slow intervention is blocking both.
