George Friend

Nice bloke George. I used to live in his old stomping ground of North Devon.

There was an article with a very strange headline embedded in that piece.
'Birmingham City man" - what is that all about?

(The actual headline is different to the snippet for some reason)

Hope he gets a great reception. One of best pound for pound signings in recent history. Also just a genuinely top bloke who did a lot within the local community.

A 100k and just short of 350 appearances👏. The best LB in the champo under AK (along with maybe Creswell at Ipswich).

The funny thing is that had we offered him a 2 year deal he would probably featured plenty. We had all kinds off issues at CB and LB with injuries over the last 18 months.

I think we offered him a year on massively reduced terms? You can't blame him for going for a 2 year deal at his age and also probably last move.

Just wish we'd kept him. Definitely good enough to have around the place and a decent squad player.

I think our ‘fans’ would have slaughtered him for not being the marauding left back of old. Shame really as I thought George Friend would have been ideal to make the transition to player to coach to manager.

He was MOTM when he returned last year. I always thought of him being a 3rd CB on the left.

Again a formation we have used on plenty of occasions since he left. It's sometimes better to remember them as they were.

I doubt we will see Clayton. Refused a move in Aug and I'm not sure he's kicked a ball (apparently one of the highest earners).

Got absolutely no doubt he'll get a great reception on Saturday. From anyone during that period who's come back, they all have in general. Think the best is saved for George.

I'll loudly applaud him, but I'd much sooner he wasn't starting.

He was fantastic against us last season and I'd sooner his team were on the losing side this time.
