George Friend

George is one of those players that all fans love. It's a simple formula too, give your all on the pitch, appreciate just how lucky you are to be a footballer and all of the benefits it brings and most of all, be professional.
We could all reel off the players from our history who've embodied those attributes and that to me is what makes them legends.

I can't actually. Plenty who gave their all on the pitch but not so sure about the rest.

Mustoe, The Boat, Sir Gareth, Willie Maddren, Stuey Boam, Mogga, Big John. Do I need to go on?
Go on if you want, but I'll be honest - I can't recall what any of those did off the pitch.
Maybe it used to be less visible/publicised.
Or maybe it was only on the pitch I took any interest in.
In either case, George was pretty unique.
